  1. Hm ok, these are some really good input. Thanks guys. So far it seems both side are fairly comparable in terms of driver quality/reliability. Some further chat with friends and looking at the links I was provided, it's given me some rather contradictory data in terms of performance between the GTX1060 6Gb and the RX580 8GB. So rather than asking for numbers since that seems to vary from source to source, I would like to know if anyone has tried both cards in various gaming situations and their experience with the cards. Or if you have used any one card for any period, what are your experiences with it? Any notable hiccups or issues that you've ran into, regardless of whether it's been resolved or not. So issues like artifacts, weird frame drops, unusual stutter/tearing, crashes, cursors disappearing, conflict with windows, etc, are what I would like to look into. Nothing frustrates a gamer more than when random things pop up and stop you from enjoying the game right?
  2. They aren't that close, but it's in a close enough price bracket that I would consider. On promo, the pricing difference between the cheapest GTX1060 3GB and RX 570 is about $50 here (Just under $35 USD). I would say the difference in performance should justify the price difference. The price difference between 1060 6GB and RX580 8GB is just $20, so I consider it close enough as a purchase. Yeah personally I've also had issues with GFE and wasn't too fond of it, but I just don't install it. I haven't experienced Radeon Software since my last AMD card was a 7870 from 5 years ago, and I sold it when I got an upgrade (which is the now dead GPU).
  3. Hey guys, so my previous GPU died about 2~3 years ago and I've been reverted to my old GTX 550Ti for the time. I wanted to get a new GPU back then but I was fresh out of university so I didn't have to the time/funds for one. Long story short, I'm deciding on a value GPU until the next gen comes out whenever they will be. I'm eyeing the GTX 1060 or the RX 570/580. Not really looking at other GPU models. So my deciding factor right now is reliability and stability, in both hardware (i.e. known bugs or incompatibility) and software (i.e. driver issues). If you have any experience you can share or reliable sources of information, please share below! My local PC hardware stores are all in stock and I've done my research on pricing so I'm only looking to see if there are any reliability/stability concerns. My usage scenario is fairly gentle. Mostly MMORPGs like Maplestory 2 and Black Desert Online, or MOBA games (i.e. LoL, DoTA 2). I also enjoy my Diablo 3. I am also expecting to play Monster Hunter: World on PC when it launches and assuming next gen GPU isn't out yet. I will play AAA games if any of them catches my eyes, but generally they aren't my cup of tea. I don't do any creative work nor any GPU based workloads other than games. I will be using 2x Dell P2418D 1440p Monitors at 60Hz, 1 main and 1 auxiliary. Thanks in advance, cheers!
  4. off topic kinda, but cant find the marble skin on the dbrand configurator :\ legit couldnt tell it was a skin and i really liked the look
  5. Cheap looking plastic case. Tacky look imo, and A LOT of wasted space with the protruding exterior as well as internal spacing. There's probably a point of diminishing returns for internal space for air cooling, and I would guess Corsair is really hitting that point. The lacking fan filtering really pales when you are up against competitions like Phanteks. 2 Front USB for a big ATX case? C'mon Corsair, you're smarter than this. Oh proprietary LED buttons and front module bays that you will have to buy SEPARATELY? You might as well tell me that Apple now owns Corsair. No, sorry Corsair, looks like you are running out of ideas and really aren't trying.
  6. Uh I'm using a Corsair K95 RGB, Mionix Naos 7000, AKG K7XX, and a Razer Goliathus extended. need a headset
  7. Running a GTX 550Ti... because the other gpu I was using failed and I've been contacting for a repair... for the last 3 months ~w~ still no solution. Plus I'm sick of nVidia's monopoly on the pricing of things. From what I was told from a local store here, the founder's edition GTX 1060 will be $700 on launch... (FYI GTX 1070 is like... $800) while the "stock" RX 480 was $500 on launch...
  8. surprised to see so few people pointing out that linus showed no check for wires or studs
  9. OMG where was this when I was forced to do app dev on windows 8... used a second computer just to save myself from having to change my main desktop's os to win8 (this was two years ago, before win10)
  10. omg loving the format and style of the show! please do more

Unfortunately I'm only just looking towards graduation, I'm no where near close to being able to afford an usable tablet for her. She's your classic tech illiterate mum haha, so the device has to be running smoothly and displays things nice and clearly. She really has done everything for me and my sister. Raising us with minimal support from my dad, putting up with me and my sister's nonsense. She's only just taking her first proper vacation after one and a half decade. Not only that, she's taking me along. Paying for my ticket, paying for my expenses... I really have nothing to repay her with. I can't express how much she's done for me and my sister, so I really want to make her life a little bit more comfortable, where ever I can.
  12. My mum could use a PC, and this form factor is perfect! I can fit it in almost anywhere in the house without cringing that it's too slow.
  13. beautiful designs that just works!
  14. oh the nostalgia competing using the mindstorm v2 kits and failing miserably good times
  15. Well considering its essentially "editor's choice" Im interested in finding out what makes it so special in the mice market where everyone is just throwing more "features" at stuff.
  16. wow, simple yet a great solution. it wouldnt cost an arm to make/buy and simply works. great job!
  17. personally i like the return of unboxing, i feel its a great format for things where included accessories and packaging is important (cases, MOTHERBOARDS!, etc). but for this particular video i feel like there was a little... lack of commitment. i mean yes i get it, its not a product thats worth the effort and cost of a full video, but i also think at the very least it could be filmed on a proper table and not have it thrown around as much as if you didnt want to film this video and just want to go home. regardless, appreciate the video and the idea as for the define s. i still dont feel like its fully thought out product. i would appreciate a more costly premium model where i have the option to add in the hdd cages (dont need the 5.25' cages, they can stay in the grave, and i personally have 3 hdd already in my system), and sound dampening in the front, maybe even a psu shroud and full screw assembly instead of rivets, etc.
  18. im offended :'( linus thinks all the "died hard" fans will be on vessel... i dont think ive missed a video for the last 2 years.... but the truth about vessel is that the quality simply isnt comparable to youtube yet and i dont feel the "early access" is worth it. I find the video less crisp/detailed and vessel simply doesnt have the same network capabilities as youtube. Im all the way in new zealand, and vessel simply lags for me. Im perfectly fine watching 1080p on youtube, never having to buffer, whereas i often have to pause the video on vessel and wait for a while. BUT THEN if i wait too long, the connection "resets" and i have to load the video ALL over again...

  20. As mentioned in my post, I've tried it with two psu, 1 from Corsair, 1 from Seasonic, with the Seasonic PSU being my personal PSU thats been used for a few years in a stable system with no problems. Thus I'm not convinced that the PSU is at fault. It's also mentioned in the post that I've already cleared the CMOS with no effect. The review linked is a different power supply. (the HXi series is digital with platinum power efficiency, instead of the gold found in the previous HX series, thus I believe they don't share power design)
  21. Hey guys, I'm seriously stuck on this and need help. First and foremost, I don't have a multimeter with me nor do I know how to work one. So I built my friend his comp about two weeks ago. It was fine, then a week later he's been getting bsod, but I concluded that it was conflicting system files left over in his laptop hdd that we put in, which I did a clean reformat. It seemed fine for another two days, then suddenly his comp shut off, and after turning back on, the post screen showed the asus anti surge message. I was busy and was not able to come and diagnose for him until today. Considering the anti-surge message, I thought to isolate the psu first (Specs below), I unplugged all power cables and connected his computer to my power supply. The message continue to show, so I entered the bios, and noticed that the built-in voltage meter was reporting 14.4V on the 12V rail. Considering I'm trying the system with my own power supply which was used in my previous build and was perfectly stable for two years (Not overclocked), it seems unlikely that the same problem occurs on both my psu and my friend's psu. I have tried clearing the CMOS, no effect. I've read on some online forums that some people had to disconnect some of their hdd, so I disconnect all his drives, but no effect. I'm unable to calibrate the motherboard sensors with a multimeter, nor do I know how. My current conclusion is a faulty motherboard, which I'd reluctantly RMA if I have to, but I'll leave that to after I've tried as many diagnose as I can. Other potential theories I have right now is incompatible RAM (after reading some random thread). I don't have spare motherboards or memory with me to test. Any constructive comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks. 22. Please let Brandon do more. I'd love to learn more about cameras & related products. I feel awkward not being able to chime in when my girlfriend starts talking camera with other friends and I can only stand there and nod. OH and hurray for dollar shave club~ finally shipping to New Zealand~
  23. actually, now that I look at it more thoroughly, the AV40 is an option. Though it does feel a bit lacking in terms of features compared to the other options here. I am interested in finding more about how it performs for content consuming. Like I mentioned, these speakers wont be focused for music listening, but rather for watching videos, and probably gaming actually. Thus I am slightly skewed for low end focused sound, rather than more analytical. I want something with a punch, and fun to listen to when I'm watching videos and doing some gaming. any links to reviews that shares information from that perspective?
