I am in need of guidance, fellow Sea/b/ass/tian/s Sebastians. I am on a long, long journey, and this is only the beginning. To start, my long term goal is to be a cutting edge genius beyond what even Elon or his child could hope to become(shoot for the moon, and all that). Short term goal is to become at least as knowledgeable as the most knowledgeable sys admin(and as wise). Shorter-term goal is to gain at least 3 tech certifications in the next 2 years, begin an entry-level IT job, and rise to at least a $70,000 annual pay rate within, at most, 2 years, due to my level of value. No need to w

17yo, am attending my local career center/academy (in fact I am by far the most intelligent in IT for my school's class of 2021) for PC repair, IT, and networking. My forte is 100% PC hardware. Despite the fact that I have only built 2 PCs in my life (my first was a piece of trash looking back), I have been studying hardware in depth for around a year and a half now. (Steve Burke from GN, Moore's law is dead, and AHOC are very helpful ) and with the exception of PSU cables, I could prob build a rig blind just from my knowledge of PCs. My knowledge of PC hardware is much more depth than breadth

One of my teachers recently has started recording videos on his phone pointed at the screen, he says he can't do google meet or zoom due to a slow Internet connection and he is also on a low end chromebook. I offered him to do a custom OBS install on his Chromebook but he says he cant because the video files would be too big and the storage is to small. I can't think of a solution myself however I am trying to find some sort of education subsided wifi in the UK, please, please can we all do something because I honestly feel bad for him and I don't know what I can do to help. Thanks for reading

Hi, Since the situation with the covid has been longer in many countries than initially planed and the income of many families has been heavily affected. I was thinking if there is a way to make a PC work as next: an operating system that allows two screens, two keyboards and two mice connected to a single PC so 2 children (or a parent at work and a child at school) would work at the same time on same PC. Is there a way to also use a second port for audio output so two children of different ages would attend different online classrooms using each a headset?

Do you have any examples of your tests?I assume you covered limits and calculus, were you supposed to solve some convoluted limits, derivations and integrals or was it something else (theory or some easy to medium hard problems)?

Yesterday, my sister took on a large math problem involving the LTT folding team stats. The attached graph is what was created to determine when our team, LinusTechTips_Team, will overtake the other folding teams above it. At this pace we will catch CureCoin on Nov 19th, 2020. All credit for the math work goes to my sister on this one! The colored graph below shows each time and the intersecting points mark the days until the team is passed. "The lines represent the total points each of the top four teams will have, as time passes, given their present rates of change." As of yesterday, "in 38

Hi everyone, I'm trying to assist my department at my university to setup a solid platform to deliver decent online classes. These classes are NEVER online and need to meet a few requirements: 1) FREE (we cant afford anything else after textbooks) 2) Can hold at least 20-25 people 3) User friendly (my department are NOT techies...) -OPTIONAL- ~ can be accessed with our phones. We have Zoom currently, but it has given us some problems. Any information would be extremely helpful and appreciated!

Hello, my name is Eli. I am 22, living in Austin, Texas. I am trying to get started on working towards a career in either Server Administrating or Managing. I don't fully understand the differences between the two, but I am hoping someone here can help me understand what both fully are and what the jobs entail. My experience is next to nothing on the subject but it's the only job that I've found a genuine interest in since graduating High School. Previously, i was firm in the fact that i did not believe college was for me, partly because i

Hello there everyone, I'm not sure where to post this so I decided to start in "Off Topic" and if I'm wrong here just say so. I'm really good at troubleshooting and fixing hardware and software but that is just the basics of IT and I've seen that a lot of companies are trying to find more people that know more about managing, programming, and networking. I hate programming, I'm not that good at leadership and networking it's all right but it can sometimes be too complex for me. I am studying IT (Information Technology) at Keiser University and I'm not sure where to

Hey guys, i got a PC for gaming at home, but i need something mobile. I got a Macbook Pro 13" (Late 2016, without Touchbar) and i think about switching over to a Dell XPS 13. I study computer science and really like the Macbook, but the Keyboard fucks me up every time I use it. The feel is okay, but it's way too loud. I also think windows could be better for everything i have to do in my during my studies. Does anyone have recommendations or mabye experiences with the Dell XPS 13? Would you recommend the XPS 9370 over the 9360?

Steve Wozniak feels that the current tech sector and education system is too intimidating to properly educate and train students to enter the Tech field so he has decided to help by creating a new online learning platform called Woz U. The curriculum will start off focusing on computer support and software development with additional courses on data science, mobile applications and cybersecurity to eventually be added. https://techcrunch.com/2017/10/13/steve-wozniak-announces-tech-education-platform-woz-u/ Woz U will offer an app to help people understand which field o

Can you study electrical engineering? Computer science? Nuclear science? Chemistry? Physics? At certified US colleges/universities, that is? I heard that some majors were restricted because of US-Iran relations.

A BBC Trending investigation has unveiled 1400 videos, accounting for more than 700 million views that has advertising for Edubirdie, which is a Ukranian based service that sells essay writing services. According to the report, while essay writing services are not illegal, students that submit work they have paid someone else to write may suffer severe penalties. It is a bit harder for YouTube to monitor for these videos in that they are not ads paid to be played on YouTube directly, but more content creator ad spots contained within videos. YouTube's response so far has been to say that:

Hey everyone, I'm in college studying IT, and my parents keep bugging me about getting a master's degree. In my opinion it's unnecessary, but they think a regular degree will get me nowhere without a master's. What do you think? Have any of you majored/mastered in IT? What are your personal experiences if you have any in this situation? I'm not solely basing my choice off of the opinions in here, so don't worry. I'm going to have a chat with my academic adviser later in the year about it, and make my decision before I graduate a few years from now. Thanks.

Hello guys, I have one doubt and questions related to the servers and the situation in which I find myself. I want to start the project for training people. The goal is to educate people the basics of programming. I want to have a classroom for 20 people. My goal is to have main server in the room and that server will have installed 20 Virtual PC-running Windows or Linux-basedOS (not yet decided). Long before I was in such a classroom, but I didn't then look at how it was done. In the classroom there is a central server and 20 monitors, keyboards and mice together with the speakers.

Hi, So I have a Titan Black. I planned on 3D modelling with it. My applications include: AutoCAD, AutoInventor, 3ds Max, Maya, Ansys Fluent, and many more. However, I noticed that when I'm in Autodesk Inventor, viewport navigation lags like hell when I pan and zoom around. I checked MSI Afterburner and found that the GPU was doing barely any work, this is the same for the CPU. So what do I need to do to make Auto Inventor make use of my GPU AND CPU? The GPU doesn't even present normal clocks due to the minimal work load. In fact, it runs at around 500mhz to conserve energy. That being said

This is a topic for you to say what you think about IT or Computer classes at a mid-school level. First I'll tell you something. I don't have IT classes, but because most of my class has them and I like computers and technology I know what goes on in them, I don't have them because when I got to 7th grade I got to choose either IT or music and I chose music because I didn't think IT classes were worth it (and boy was I right). I'm now at 8th grade and I have no desire to have them. So last year all they did, and I mean ALL they did were three things: talk about hardware (very limited k

Without them it would be prohibitively expensive for us to come to the show and bring you guys this content, so I'd like to express my sincere gratitude towards our sponsors because they (and you) make it possible for us to keep doing what we love to do, which is arguably one of the coolest jobs in the world. All three have been great partners and asked for pretty much nothing other than mentions in our videos, which gives us the freedom to create the content we feel you guys will enjoy. Huge thanks again to our three sponsors :') Our first sponsor this year is Sennheiser.

Hello, what I am trying to discover is if their is an alternative to what Adafruit IO does that could be hosted locally on a server. My instructor is wanting to setup a server here at the college to allow for additional testing and more long term projects that could be performed. I have taken a look at Node-RED but I would like to hear other opinions on the matter. Thanks, SgtKilgore406
