With the versatility of the monitor stand at this price, this would be very useful for coding or for a second display while gaming.  And while it may not be the best for a primary monitor, not everyone can afford the expensive options for higher resolutions.

Hey I noticed you have "College Student" on your profile. You should check to see if you can obtain Windows through your school via. Microsoft Dreamspark.

If you have an email through your school (i.e. yourname@university. edu), that's usually enough to get access to Dreamspark.

Here's the page to create an account.

I got Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro through there, put it on an SSD on my old laptop, and it works great. Not sure what the differences are between Windows Embedded 8.1 and the traditional Windows 8.1, I think less drivers/runtimes are included in the Embedded distribution, but I have not come across any major differences between the two.

Well, the ISO is downloading but it's just over 3GB so it's going to take a while.  Thank you to all of you, I'll update when I've got the file downloaded and I've put it on a flashdrive.

This is all well and good, but the cost of the optical drive and OS aren't included.  The true cost of this rig is $830, significantly above the original $660.

Seem good to me The thermal paste is not needed though, the preapplied one on the 212 EVO should already be good enough.
Also I still think getting a Mobo that support SLI is better, but it's totally up to you

Google Dual Channel memory and you will see. It's sort of like if you have 8gb of Ram in only 1 stick, you only pour data into in through 1 channel, but if you divided it into 2 4GB pool then you can input twice as much data in at the same time.

You wont be able to OC it even.
In games that scale over 4 threads a xeon is faster than a oced 4690k easily.
You will also be able to use your pc for much more things in the future , video editing , rendering.
Its just much more flexible and more "future foward".
    Eh.

The Xeon is adivisable since DX 12 wil support better threading , is equivalent to an i7 4770 in gaming.
Let me just adjust the build.

If you've used those before and you like them, absolutely go for it.
