  1. Why do you "need to get every letter dedicated to vars"?
  2. It's in the #minecraft-info channel on Discord.
  3. Interesting. Maybe it's already doing 10-bit then, just not "HDR"?
  4. Not quite. The macbook would see what the monitor is capable of via that connection and then display whatever options are compatible with it. Most likely, yes. By the sound of it, it's not a huge difference between having "HDR" (not actual HDR) enabled or disabled on this monitor. Probably the biggest difference you'd see is sometimes smoother gradients.
  5. It's likely not even your GPU that's being a bottleneck. How much RAM are you allocating (I'd do about 4GB)? What version of MC are you using? Do you use Optifine (I'd recommend it if you don't)? How's your CPU usage on Minecraft? Is your FPS being limited in-game or in the Nvidia control panel? What's your render distance set to? Have you tried updating your graphics drivers? Make sure your system power setting is set to performance and not balanced or some trash like that.
  6. Don't worry too much about it. There are a ton of variables that play into how many FPS you get. I get anywhere from 100 to 600 FPS with my i7 8700K OC'd to 4.8GHz and GTX 970. As long as you're not dipping below your monitor's refresh rate, it's not that big of a deal, especially in something like Minecraft. (If this were competitive CS:GO or Overwatch or some other FPS where milliseconds can make or break a shot, then sure, but MC? Nah.)
  7. I doubt it. It'd depend on if your motherboard supports overclocking, as well as what the stock cooler you have is.
  8. Well, that USB C -> HDMI one looks like it's actually doing DisplayPort 1.2 based on the description, which only supports 3840x2400 at 60hz, and doesn't support HDR10 (10-bit) You need something that supports DisplayPort 1.4 for HDR. HDMI 2.0 also supports HDR10. The USB-C to DP 1.4 cable does support 4K60Hz HDR, so it should be working. And the USB-C to USB-C one only does DP 1.2, so it won't work for 4K60Hz HDR. What monitor do you have? https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/339812/2018-macbook-pro-lg-4k-display-no-60hz Try what they did on there, that *might* fix it.
  9. Do the specific adapters that you have specifically support 4k60hz 10-bit? The 2018 MBP supports Up to two displays with 5120-by-2880 resolution at 60Hz at over a billion colors Up to four displays with 4096-by-2304 resolution at 60Hz at over a billion colors Thunderbolt 3 digital video output Native DisplayPort output over USB‑C VGA, HDMI, DVI, and Thunderbolt 2 output supported using adapters (sold separately) "at over a billion colors" would be 10-bit. 8 bits per color channel: 16,777,216 total colors 10 bits per color channel: 1,073,741,824 total colors 12 bits per color channel: 73,876,521,536 total colors 14 bits per color channel: 4,398,046,511,104 total colors 16 bits per color channel: 281,474,976,710,656 total colors
  10. I'd go for whichever you can find for cheaper from a reliable source.
  11. You realize to do this you'd need to get a new motherboard. Imo just get a higher end Ryzen chip like a 2700X or something from the 3000 series, that way you can keep your existing motherboard.
  12. Did you mean MB/s? Or was Mb/s intentional? (b = bit, B = byte. 8 bits per byte) Do both your NAS and PC have gigabit ethernet? If you go to Network and Sharing Center, then click 'Ethernet' next to Connections for your current network, what does it say the speed is?
  13. It's LMG's channel, not some random person's, and it's for "Condensed clips and highlights from other Linus Media Group channels." Seems to be a lot of WAN show clips right now.
  14. It's possible they got it on like a black friday deal or something and are selling it marked up some. If they were to return it, they'd just get back what they paid.
  15. I'm aware. That's why I suggested additional options.
  16. This. You'll either need a new motherboard, or a different CPU that's compatible with Z170? (or whatever you have) boards. Personally I'd just scrap both and go with Ryzen. Much better performance for your money.
  17. Even if it functions, there's no way in hell I'm going anywhere near it. I guess the best way to take and sell user data is to create their OS... *cough cough* Microsoft *cough cough*
  18. Upping the power limit is for when you're hitting your card's current power limit and thus not able to overclock higher. If your card can't handle the additional heat, then you'd be best off leaving it set to default, or maybe even reduced a bit.
  19. Option 1: Wrap your laptop. Option 2: Cover it with a sticker Option 3: Plasti-dip (or some other form of paint) your laptop Option 4: Don't take it in public
  20. Was the new kit a 2x8GB kit? Or did you get two separate 8GB sticks? (not retail packaged together)
  21. Java isn't a "massive security issue". The fact that it runs in the JVM (Java Virtual Machine) makes it quite secure. Also, Java is very widely used, especially on phones and servers. Java is still the #1 language on the TIOBE Index at 16.246%, slightly higher than C at 16.037%. https://www.tiobe.com/tiobe-index/
  22. There may still be a performance hit, but it won't likely be as much as with a higher end card.
