  2. No, I don't really need an ITX motherboard, this is just what my colleagues are using. I thought of a smaller case since I will already have another tower under the desk - the hardware our costumers get from us. But now watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL4DCEp7blY (I'm still only half way), I realized that a smaller case usually means louder fans. I guess I could but at my current position I am doing similar things using VMs and I never rescaled it to more that 64Gb of memory. They don't use that dock, I asked for it since I knew I will be swapping worknig between this workstation, a work laptop and a private laptop. Would replacing the motherboard to an mATX one with thunderbolt could solve both the cooling and video output? Any recommendations? Yes, we use numpy everywhere, pandas quite often and sometimes ML models on scikit-learn or tensorflow. If I stick to the AMD Ryzen, I could change the motherboard, case, and power supply, right? any recommendations that would work well together?
  3. Weirdest glitch.

In the middle of a game of helldivers, my PC black screened and wouldn't turn back on. Today, I took everything apart and back together and now it works. What? The PC ran perfectly fine for over a year like that.

  4. not related, but you can just upload images to the forum, no need for external links
  5. Summary Battlestate Games introduced a new $250 edition with P2W features and an exclusive mode, deprecating the old $150 that was supposed to give all new features forever. Fan's aren't happy, and the devs are upset they're getting dunked on on Twitter. Quotes My thoughts I've never played Tarkov, I don't have the nerves for it that much PvP. As a Destiny player I've certainly felt milked at times, but this is a whole other level. Calling PvE a "feature" instead of a "DLC" to justify its exclusion from the old $150 edition feels particularly scummy. 6. Actually its not, memory speed is in Mega Transfers but for simplicity almost everyone calls it Mhz. As memory is DDR (double data rate) then the REAL Mhz speed is actually half the MT speed, as two transfers can be done per clock cycle. This often catches people out as tools like CPU-Z may display the real Mhz.
  7. I found a solution that works for me. I tried everything I could think of, I spent hours trying to figure it out. I noticed that Windows 11 24H2 did work in VMWare but would hang in VirtualBox. Only 24H2 was not working. Everything else does. The Solution: In VirtualBox go to your Windows 11 24H2 virtual Machine »» Settings »» System »» Change the chipset to ICH9 »» Click OK now run the virtual machine. It worked for me.

  9. That sounds like a good idea but a beast to tackle. Seems like the safest way to redo the space would be to get a 2 Bay NAS to move everything to before recreating the space the right way. Fantastic lol So like no mater the quantity of drives it's always using half of the space for redundancy? Is that what it means when it gave me the resiliency size or something like that? I was able to open up more space than 50% but it mentioned that it wouldn't be resilient past like 10.9GB. By any chance does it switch to something like parity or does it just leave a portion of the data naked without any protection past that 10.8GB? I appreciate the info, thank you!
  10. Totally agreed, as mentioned before this is just something to have data backed up somewhere i.e. off my phone, laptop, cameras, etc. in case they break or corrupt. Also, the RAID array is an additional storage place outside of my normal SSD drives I work on. I totally get that it's like the bare minimum (or one step above since the "Backup" volume at least could lose a drive without a problem. So I could lose both an SSD and an HDD and my data is still there, so long as it's just hardware failure and not a fire or a meteorite lol) Long term I want to repurpose an old, huge tower case and a hand me down 12th gen system plus 6 or 7 drives into a NAS (not sure if that's the exact correct term) and attach it to a network, optimally in a different location for a whole-family backup. Could you recommend any good YouTube resources on TrueNAS Scale so I could study up and start planning? That would be fantastic. Thanks for the advice!

  12. Check individual core temperatures with HWInfo64, PUBG probably uses only a few cores, which will get substantially hotter than with a all core load.
  13. Hey, I recently upgraded my PC: CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 2x16GB 6000MHz DDR5 Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 GPU: MSI Ventus 2080 PSU: Bequiet Straight Power 12 (850W) As you can see in the video, when I launch PUBG, the CPU temperature spikes almost to 90 degrees, and this sometimes happens during gameplay. However, I don't have any problems with any other games, neither Destiny 2, nor Helldivers, nor Cyberpunk 2077. Even when running Cinebench, the maximum temperature was 79 degrees. I've tried many settings in BIOS/Ryzen Master, but nothing helped with PUBG. I'm beginning to think that this problem is not on my end. Video Has anyone else encountered something similar?
  14. I am not sure what you are saying. What are "good models", and 50% compared to what? The claim is that Qualcomm are lying in their benchmarks. That the numbers they presented were "baked", as in made up. The programs they ran were arm-native, as you can see by my list. It would be really stupid to say they lied in their benchmark and then run different benchmarks and go "see, I get different numbers". Reporting the results in a benchmark is not lying just because the numbers from a different benchmark aren't the same.
  15. Which 3070? Make sure all power connectors are fully seated. And have you tried DDU? Also that is a very old platform, I know some old boards like to have problems or just die for no reason. Make sure your bios is updated to the latest and vrm/mobo temps are fine. Use HWinfo to check temps. Try a different slot and also manually set the pcie version to the latest possible. Also turn off any pcie related power saving features like ASPM.
  16. ^^^ even 1st gen core beats zambezi/vishera let alone the cacheless trinity apus im curious if ram oc ever helped amd fx or the old apus cpu performance wise, imcs were pretty decent with zambezi/llano and ddr3 3200+ seems like its possible though vishera/trinity stuck to ~3000 max i do have fx but my 970 extreme3 is crippled for some reason maybe due to socket cover swap, used to be able to hit 2700 ish on 2 sticks for a frequency run (likely higher had i used better sticks cause i might have used one of my worst psc sticks) but now struggles to get over 2400, so im gonna have to buy another board if i wanna test for myself and im kinda focused on trying to get over the 3400 mark on x58 with a bloomfield chip atm so id rather spend my cash binning more w3503 or buying a gulftown chip also got fm2(+) but boards are all trash and yeah id rather play with fm1 llano that has a better imc for 3200+ shenanigans instead of being stuck at ~3000 and getting bored instantly

It has been nonstop cold with snow and rain for…

    This weather is wild.
  18. Overclocking is an enthusiast thing only with these newer cpu's. The Intel cpu's are boosted so high out of the box that 13 and 14 gen i9 owners are having to undervolt just to run stable.
  19. it's enough for the next few years, there's no need to upgrade if your PC can meet your needs, there's no problem if you want to upgrade too
  20. Right now with my 6700K i never overclocked it either, well I did some testing but I got tired of the random blue screens so I don't mind if I can't overclock it. In case I do choose to spend a little more to get the K, what's the next best board? This was the card the store was recommending: INNO3D GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER X3, never heard of the brand before so I'm not sure if the store is just trying to clear stock or if its actually good.

It has been nonstop cold with snow and rain for…

Here everything was frozen already when I woke up. It was like -2° overnight, but at least it's not "scheduled" to get this cold for the next week or so.
  22. We need an actual number for budget, it'll help us determine what you should be getting. I put a 14900k in this list cause it wasn't much more for what is basically the same chip but faster. Also id highly recommend a contact frame if you OC, it's only like $15 from thermalright and helps temps by alot. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ygtxqR i9 with a 4070 isn't the best pairing, id recommend a 4080S/4090 or 7900xtx with that cpu unless whatever games you're playing rely on cpu alot. For productivity maybe it makes more sense but you haven't told us exactly what you're doing. Just "Productivity" doesn't tell us much.
  23. I'm using open media vault when I run lspci I can see two NVMe SSD controllers but I still can't see both in open media vault
  24. Not really in my experience, higher frequencies scale timings about the same, if anything slightly worse since you have more clock cycles to mask bad timings. I will mention if you change both of them, the difference can start to actually become slightly noticeable, but it's still not that large.
