This is great for anyone who is upgrading from the original 2011-0 (sandy/ivy bridge-e) to the newer socket refresh 2011-3 (haswell-e) for the 2011 platform, especially for their highest tier of dual & single tower 140mm heatsinks which are best suited high heat dissipation & high performance to low noise ratio he

Hi guys!
I built my system in early January after Christmas and at the beginning of the year everything worked better than imagined! However, since then, the performance of the GPU has dropped, a lot. Yes I am a gamer, so I showed the performance through Battlefield 4. At the beginning of the year I was getting 100FPS on Ultra everything, it's now August and I'm getting a low 15-20FPS on Ultra everything. This is an R9 270X Gigabyte windforce so I'm sure this isn't normal. I've done no overcloc

So, day-to-day, what am I running in my back pocket. Hmmm... Well, as I mentioned, I have a crawl space where all my networking comes into the house. In here I have a few of the "no touch needed" systems. These include an older HP AMD server, ML110 G6 model I think. I have on that a voice solution running for various things. Also in here is the main unRaid server. Beside that I have an HP ML330 G6 system running Server 2012 R2. This is my main test platform and I use Hyper-V extensively on it. I

Today I will tell the story of how I became involved the computing world. It started all the way back in 1993. I was just a young lad, only 12 at the time. My family bought a computer, a custom build brick with all the AT fixings (you know how those things looked). This became my world, and I was absorbed in the mesmerizing glare of an 800x600 resolution monitor. DOS was a mysterious lady with which I tangled with, often lost, but always learned something new with each encounter. Windows 3.1 was
Hello guys! So tonight I'm sharing this with you as a gamer.
Well, you all know Steam. I didn't. I got to know about it when I came to know about LTT. I came to know about LTT from Youtube.
I'm a gamer. Not a hardcore gamer though. I don't play games as for passing time. I play it for entertainment and relaxation after doing all my hard work. I can't buy digital games since my card is fucked up. So, I have to be dependent on giveaways :(
I like playing RPG, Strategy kinda games. I even try mo
Great Title, Huh? I'm starting with the cardinal rule of writing: write laconicly. (FYI, good, to-the-point writing should never use words like "laconic")
If a CPU is a computer "Brain", the Power Supply Unit (henceforth referred to as PSU) is the heart. It pumps Alternating Current (AC) electricity from a wall socket, converts it to Direct Current (DC) electricity that is then split into various voltages/amperages and sent to a PC's internal components. A truely glorious function, eh?

I didn't think it would happen in this small town, but I was offered to work for a wireless Internet company that has some contracts lined up. The business owner can't do all this work on his own and wants me to start as soon as possible. It will be a great opportunity for me to learn things that I have never learnt before such as IP PBX, core switching, and firewall configuration using Barracuda firewall appliances. The pay would be nearly equal to what I am making now, and this is truly someth
Good Day, Everyone!
The art of writing and the science of technology are seemingly devoid of similarities. A "Liberal Arts Major" is viewed as a fluffy bigwig with no ability to do anything practical by STEM majors, and an Engineer is considered a no-life sexually repressed nerd with social skills that can be summed up with a bad pun by the Lit/Art/History crowd.
Essentially, this type of blog is, according to "Educated Folks", an impossibility.

I think the US Government fucking sucks when it comes to the WWW, they don't understand fucking shit, just a bunch of power hungry fucking slobs that just want more money. Same goes for the ISP's, they don't appose these laws and want to charge ME, to view a fucking website or get data.

It's been a while! Hi! The main source of inspiration for my posts is school and I'm on holidays, so... yeah...
But I've been thinking, and I wanted to write something about this. Currently I'm in middle school (grade 5 to 9 in Portugal), next year I'm going to grade 9, the last year, and it's a transition year, since in grade 10 you're in high school. Since it's the last year of middle school it's also the last year that won't matter for university access.
And one thing that I hear a lot of p

Hey guys,
I really wanted to get the AMD R7 260x graphics card that Linus reviewed.
I've searched all over the internet (Amazon, NCIX, Newegg, TigerDirect, etc.) to find the gpu that he showed but so far, have not found the same one.
I have found R7 260Xs from different companies such as ASUS, Sapphire, etc. but I want the one in the video to match my pc build color scheme.

Hey, I am an enthusiastic composer and I need a new laptop. I use a program called Sibelius 7 to compose a midi track which I modify with Fruity Loops. The main types of instruments I compose for are piano and synths. Please could you leave suggestions on what laptop to get or things to look out for? I would also use it for gaming... A LOT of gaming. It would be the laptop I use for university also so something with a nice processor and great internal speakers. I do have some kick ass headphones
So my dad said that he was getting a new laptop for me, and he also commented that he really liked my iPad.
Considering that the iPad was a gift and I hate iOS in every imaginable sense, I am considering giving my iPad to my dad when I get the new laptop. All I ever do on it is watch YouTube and browse the LinusTechTips forum, all of which can be easily run on my new laptop. He did mention an i5 processor in said laptop, which is a huge-ass upgrade over my Celeron M. He did not mention what pa
Google I/O 2014 has come and gone, with plenty of new things to be excited about. From a radical new design for their entire lineup of products, to one of the fruits of their 20% initiative, here are the top five Google I/O announcements.
Material Design
Material design represents a common philosophy that will be present across all of Google's products. It allows developers to specify an elevation value for each UI component, and have real time lighting and shadows run over it.
