HDD vs SSD - old laptop edition

Go to solution Solved by scottyseng,

Hey guys, for school i use an old 2011 mac (2435M cpu, 4gb of i think gddr5 1333mhz )

The hard drive in this is a 500gb 5400rpm hdd, and i'm considering upgrading it to a 240gb ssd

(the ssd will only have windows, unlike the hdd) And i'm wondering just how significant will the speed difference be?

thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

I still consider a Sandy Bridge gen CPU as not being crazy old yet, that honor goes to the Core 2 Duos.

You will have a significant boost in speed. Your Mac will be a lot more responsive and programs will load up much faster.

I remember my Acer laptop's original hard drive taking 2-4 min to load up vs 20 seconds now on the SSD.
