NEED help..!

MrGoose0

Hey guys. My friend finally decided to upgrade his super old GPU (9500GT from Nvidia) YES it is old AF(7 years). since the old card started to overheat while playing CS:GO he now wants to buy a new one but he is a bit low on the budget (about 70 euros) since he's not a big gamer he casually plays games with me and it's mostly CS:GO and SMITE. So he doesn't really wants to spend alot of money on the card.

What I would like from you guys is few suggestions for a new card.... that would suit his needs. He has a fairly decent CPU and a Motherboard with a PCIe 3.0 slot for a videocard.

I see loads of 6950's and 6970's on used sites at that price in my country! (I would buy used, much better value!)

My Rig:

LOL! That's exactly what I was doing. You just beat me to it. But to answer OP's question, I suggest buying something used. I got a HD 7850 in like-new condition for $50 (47 euros).

-snip-

Before you go out and buy a new fancy GPU, make sure to check what PSU you have. Because if you have some 400W random PSU in there, and you throw in a 6970/480/580 you are going to blow it up ;). A lot of people that sell their GPU also upgrade their PSU, might be something to remember!

Used 750ti

was just about to say, if you can find a used 750/750ti at that price a crappy PSU could probably handle it.

I found a used Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 (1Gb)

it's 50euros and seems in a good condition.

He has a decent PSU so it won't blow up ;D (500W I think)

What do you expect he wants to spend 70 Euros....

+ he wants to play CS:GO and SMITE..... not GTAV!!

I've read through this and I don't think the question about CPU was ever answered.  You say what he has is enough, but could you mention what it is?  That way we can also all give an opinion :)

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

On this forum it's sometimes better to give less information :P Otherwise you'll end up selling half your rig for other parts ;)

True, but there's no point in getting a better GPU if the CPU's not up to snuff, and we can't confirm if it is or not unless we know what it is

I was talking about a PSU as said above...

I know you were. I was quoting that other guy who's apparently bad at quoting (double quoting).
