Xbox one elite controller VS Scuf!

Hey everyone, with Christmas around the corner I was interested in getting a new controller. I am a pc gamer at heart but I play shooters on xbox one. I am looking to get either a scuf or the xbox one elite controller because I need the paddles to map to my ABXY buttons.

I believe with shipping and the fact that scuf overprices everything, ridiculously, they are the same price. I was thinking about the xbox one elite controller and saw Luke's review on the channel, but I was scared if the buttons would be pressed accidentally.

I looked and the buttons on the elite Xbone are directly where my fingers are on the back of the controller, which is great because I don't have to move them to hit the buttons, but I am also worried because Luke mentioned something about accidental inputs. I saw some other youtubers talking about the accidental inputs as well, is this a really big problem? I kinda clutch the control a little bit but I'm not furiously grabbing it.

I was considering the scuf because I have never heard anything about the accidental presses or whatever, but those stick paddles don't seem comfortable at all.

Bottom line: The Elite xbone is more erginominal and looks more comfortable but I'm worried I will accidentally press those buttons while just holding the controller or if I tense up I will grab them. Any suggestions? Does anyone have any input to this? Thanks

I would get the Elite controller if I was actually going to spend money on something like that.

A few friends have one and they seem to really like them.

Yeah I could assume they were much better quality. Are scufs just complete knockoffs or do they mod regular xbox controllers?

I would go for the elite controller because it looks to be better build and of higher quality. Either controller could possibly have accidental button presses. But that is why they allow you to change and remove them. Elite controller all the way. I want one myself. But will wait until lower price. If that will ever happen.

My Gaming Rig (Build November 2014):

Well Scuf is a reputable brand as they were around for a long time before Xbox came out with the Elite controller (I'd go so far as to say Scuf gave Xbox the idea in the first place) but I'd just take the Elite controller over the Scufs for whatever reason.

Ok I'm still looking however I didn't really find my answer here. Xboxonthego, the whole point of me buying this was for the button pads on the back. I'll just buy the elite and see how it performs due to the button pads. If they suck, I return.

Hi, so I bought an elite controller exclusively for the buttons on the back a couple weeks ago. I tried using it with the buttons and instantly figured that they were completely USELESS for my hands. As it is completely impossible for me to hold the controller without pressing all of the buttons.

I was going to return it because of this, BUT the build quality (it just feels really nice in the hand) and the other swappable parts, not to mention the 2 profile switch are freaking amazing so I decided to hold onto it, and figure out something about the paddles.

Today I finally decided to go ahead and mod the paddles to make them useable.

I am just about to make a new post on the forum with pictures and a little guide on what I did, and I will post that link on here in a few minutes as soon as I finish writing it up.

EDIT: here is a link to the post I just made about my mod: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/491797-xbox-one-elite-controller-paddle-mod-plus-mini-rantreview/

When in doubt, re-format.

Dude...

You are

A F***CKING GOD

I never really thought about doing that. I will purchase the Xbox one elite now after seeing this mod. Honestly thank you so much. I never though of this. Even if it doesn't work out I can just return it to bestbuy or wherever I got it from and buy a scuf but this will most likely work. I would also suggest using popsicle sticks?(crude but I don't own Sugru)

I would make a video of that tutorial and put it on youtube. I'm sure lots of people have the problem you had and you would easily get hundreds of thousands of views if you posted a video tutorial on LTT forums.

Thanks for the kind words, but the photo tutorial is about all I have the patience for. Making a video is just too much effort for me. I was just disappointed that the post got buried and has like 3 views.

As far as the popsicle stick idea, I'm not sure that it would work just given the angles that you have to work with. An easy and reversible thing to try if you don't have sugru is to use a hot glue gun and apply gobs of glue to the cut off paddle nubs until you have your desired shape. you can easily shape it with an x-acto knife or the like. Though I suppose you could somehow figure out a way to hot glue popsicle sticks in some functional way, I just wanted an excuse to use some sugru. If you do end up doing this, I would be very interested in your results.

When in doubt, re-format.

I have the Xbox One Elite controller and I honestly love it!

Granted it does take a little getting used to with the paddles, BUT once you are used to it it becomes second nature. You just have to give it a little time. I got used to it completely after 2/3 games of Halo 5 and now I honestly don't think I can go back to using a standard controller. It really is brilliant and I can not recommend it enough.

I hope this helps :)
