Anyone know a good CMS for business directory management?

Hi guys, I've been shot down in flames by unhelpful people in other forums - I'm new here so hopefully this one is a bit friendlier!

I'm setting up a website that keeps a directory of trustworthy businesses in my town, we've had great success with our Facebook page so thought it was time to set a website up as well.  One of the members of the team manages content but has no knowledge of HTML or CSS, so needs a graphical way to update the "listings" on this site.  Does anyone know of a CMS that is embeddable into an existing HTML/CSS site, allows for the creation of "listings" and has a graphical back end so that edits to content can be made by non-techies?  I know this is probably quite a tall order!

Many thanks,

Ollie

Haven't heard of anything like this available 'off-the-shelf'. Some solutions might be available if you look around however. If you have some knowledge of PHP or another web-based language you could probably make a basic system using mySQL to hold the information, then use built-in SQL functions to search the database.

It's completely blown out of proportion. Also if you're the least bit worried about data gathering then you should go live in a cave a 1000Km from the nearest establishment simply because every device and every entity gathers information these days. In the current era privacy is just fallacy and nothing more.

Does the site contain a server side component and are the listings stored anywhere (database, file, etc)?

Look in to Concrete5. It is ridiculously easy to convert a standard HTML site into a Concrete5 theme: https://www.concrete5.org/documentation/developers/5.7/designing-for-concrete5/building-a-concrete5-theme/converting-an-html-template-to-a-concrete5-theme/

There is also an extensive library of available add-ons: https://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons and using one like Block Designer https://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/block-designer/ would allow you to create custom content blocks for your directory listings.

Editing is done inline and is 100% WYSIWYG:

With the custom blocks I mentioned above you can also do guided content editing:

Over the years I've worked extensively with Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal but I almost exclusively use Concrete5 now because it's just that good.
