Advice for building my PC

Hi,

I've been looking into building my own PC for a while now and I think I've nailed down the parts but I'd love some feedback before I order them.

Take a look and see what you think: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/sLQnVn

I want to use the machine for gaming and video editing.

If I order all those parts will I need anything else or should it come with all the needed cables?

Thanks!

Nope, Razer Keyboard and mouse.

*Insert Razer Rant*

I would get a higher Watt PSU (Maybe a 750w) w/ gold efficiency.

I wouldn't get a black drive, I don't think they are worth it.

I would get a bigger SSD, maybe a 250GB

I'd say get a better cooler and a different motherboard.

I recommend...

CPU Cooler - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/be-quiet-cpu-cooler-bk019

Motherboard - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z97ar

I picked stuff to match your black theme.

I also recommend buying 1 extra case fan, the R5 is missing one in the case.

Get this to match the be quiet! CPU Cooler.

Case Fan - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/be-quiet-case-fan-bl063

What I would do is move the rear exhaust to the missing front intake, and put the new be quiet! fan as your new exhaust, so it matches right next to your new CPU Cooler.

  1. get the h100i gtx or the nh-d14 as you need a better cpu cooling solution

get the asus z97-e or z97-a instead

you need a better monitor. get a 1440p 1ms and 144 hertz or a 1080p model with 1ms and 144 hertz

id have to disagree with the h100i gtx. R5 is for silence, the h100i would have you take out the top panels to use it. Maybe if you front mounted it i guess, not sure if it will front mount though.

z97-a has bronze/gold accents, not matching his build.

i totally agree on the monitor, didn't notice it before.

1440p 60hz or 1080p 120+hz if using 980 ti.

i didn't realize he was looking for silence. in that case, the h100i gtx would not be ideal, i agree. the nh-d14 or the u14s would be good then

i didn't realize he was looking for a themed build. in the case, get something else

he could potentially get more than 60 fps at 1440p with a 980 ti in some games. especially if the graphics settings aren't maxed. i'd get a 144 hertz 1440p monitor in case he wants to go sli in the future
