Is my PSU Efficent/Correct

Kinuubi

Hello. I posted recently in the build section and now I wanted to know if my PSU is efficent/correct/appropriate. The list of parts is here and the PSU is here.

Would you guys recommend something different?

If its Corsair, Seasonic, Superflower, XFX, Coolermaster, Silverstone, Antec, or, especially EVGA, it is going to be a good PSU.

Yes 750 watts is fine for that build.

The PSU is OK but don't buy retail os. goto /r/microsoftsoftwareswap to get a key of win 8.1 or 7 for 25 bucks or less. Also the 212 evo isn't the best choice. The cryorig h7 is a great cpu cooler that is slightly more expensive but it's thicker. The stock fan might not match the color scheme but you can swap it out. I myself have the 4690K and i have it set to 4.4 GHz and it's not even that hot at 71 Celsius under load

I heard there were some people that got fake keys. I might not want to risk it. I made a post about the cooling unit on the forums as well. I didn't want to ask here since it's not the correct section.

Thanks. I was hoping it was ok :P

Nah man. It's totally legit and safe. buy from one of the verified sellers and you should be ok. And i get butthurt when people say "it will fit the budget" they are complete idiots sometimes (not you though. you are fine but don't be suspicious. i got 8.1 on my new pc and it's great). The cooler i suggested is better, trust me.

This website is great for getting a close enough estimate on the power your system will consume.

I took the liberty of filling it out with your build (no CPU overclock) and it came to around 475 under 90% load. So yes your power supply will work for your build and you could possibly even get a lower one maybe around 600 or 650 to be on the safe side.

As well, I noticed if you are purchasing a disc for windows 7 you don't have a dvd drive for it or an addition SATA cable for said drive either. If it isn't a disk, carry on as planed.

I'll look more into when I get enough money for my build. Thanks! I honestly do not like Windows 8. It's made more for tablets than PC. I might get 7 or 10 if it's out when I build.

Thanks! Would a lower PSU be better? Or it doesn't really matter? Yea the Windows 7 disc thing is just there for me to remember to get an OS lol

And I can guarantee they are still going to be better than some generic PSU off eBay. And yes, lots of people buy those thinking "it doesn't matter".

To be fair every brand has some products that are not that great. Please give me your own personal opinion and experience with the PSU's you have now or in the past. Thank you!

EDIT: I feel like I sounded like an A-hole and I didn't mean to :P Just didn't want people to argue over PSUs

There isn't a lot of added benefit of going to lower wattage PSU except for effiency ranges which effects your consumtion from the wall and power bill in your home.

Here is a list of the different 80+ standards and their effiency range percents: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80_Plus
