Windows 8.1 install BSOD

Since yesterday i'v been trying to install windows 8.1, both as an upgrade from windows 7 and as clean install. Every time I attempt this I get a error and bsod during install right as it starts to "setup devices" the error for the bsod is "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". it says to search this online for more info. and I cant find anyone with my problem. I was wondering what this could be, if anyone knows, please help.

According to microsoft this is an error caused by bad drivers / bad hardware. Most people only fixed it by checking their RAM (one or more sticks have been faulty...), so try plugging every stick out except for one and try it again.

so this could be bad ram, what's happening is a piece of hardware is requesting xxx amount of RAM for the component to operate, like your onboard audio wants 1024kb of RAM so it has somewhere to buffer audio a little. Well the component I asking for (what the system thinks) is too much RAM. This can be caused because of a driver not being correct, memory being faulty, or memory not being compatiable with the motherboard. Please check your UEFI/BIOS to make sure that the timings for your RAM are what your RAM manufacture says they should be. Often times motherboards dont pick up the RAM type instantly and will assign it a "generic" timing and speed, which can cause problems.
