Linux & Gaming

Pruxis

I wonder what games actuality run decent on Linux, because I have been interested in installing Linux on my main machine but I wouldn't want to sacrofice all the games I play in order to use Linux over Windows

I (sometimes) play the following games:

- League of Legends

- Counterstrike Global Offensive

- TERA

- World of Warcraft

- Singleplayer games like GTA V, Fallout 3, ...

CS:GO will run natively, and you could probably get playonlinux going with WINE to get Fallout 3 playing.  I've tried everything, but it's impossible to get League of Legends to run without straight up crashing, not to mention everything on the client is blank except for the play menu.  Not super sure about TERA, as it's kind of new to the scene.  Your best bet would be to look on the WINE forums, maybe someone there has a solution for some of the games you plan on running.

LoL should be possible through WINE.  According to this guide it should work on Arch, but maybe it stopeed working after an update.  Every fix I found for Arch has worked on Mint for me, so if it works (again, for that specific version) on Arch, Ubuntu-based distros should be covered)

CS:GO has native Linux support, it's available for Linux in the steam store

TERA should run on WINE but people are reporting lots of UI lag.  Dualboot is recommended

WoW  runs great on WINE

GTA V ... not found it on Linux yet and no sign of support in the near future. There is one video of someone playing it on a laptop with Ubuntu, but the video description mentions streaming so I suspect that the game itself is actually running on a remote PC.

Fallout 3 works under wine but some of the YT vids report sound issues and weird renderings.
