Worth selling off 2 980s for future 980ti?

Bitt3rSteel

See title. Money isnt object per se as it would be a reallocation of my watercooling budget, i just wonder if its worth it for 1440p and future VR/surround.

980 is in itself a beast.

No. It's just a waste of time for minimal performance increase, especially if going from SLI to Single card, you may lose performance.

I would assume that two 980s would get more performance than one 980ti, so no I guess.

Wait for the 980ti, and wait to see how DX12 rolls out. Supposedly with AMDs new methodology for dual-GPUs you'll be able to utilize VRAM from both cards and also get better xfire performance. You should be able to get benchmarks of the 980ti, and compare it to a benchmark of your current GPUs

Edit: Man I can't read today. I thought the title said 2 280s....

Wait and see. Get some benchmarks when the 980ti comes out, and benchmark your 980s

Nah man. You'll end up with less performance than if you just ran the 980s in SLI

I may have worded this wrong. The sale of my two 980s would help cover to cost for 2 980ti's. the rest of the money comes out of a seperate budget i have set aside for a summer project.

I just feel like my 980s are about to be rendered obsolete :<
