Synology 4TB Raid NAS - Quicky

Tearass

We needed a NAS, building one from scratch was too expensive, we wanted some sort of backing up, and these HDDs had a great deal.

Pretty simple, so let's begin.

Hope you enjoyed the photos, this was a couple minute long process, but documented it for you guys.

-snip-

You stated that it was too expensive to get build one and i understand the concern but dont you think a two bay solution is limiting? Especially with psuedo RAID1?

You have a Synology DS215J, which is around 200 USD, so that means that you can only ever get a single drive worth of storage (50% capacity usage).

Just a thought, have considered getting a cheap xeon based machine for around 300 USD plus FreeNAS and you have limitless opportunity for expansion.
