The Ultimate 2000$ (USD) PC Build! (Black/Red)

I have built PC's for others before, lets just get that one out of the way. I've done lots of re-cablemanagement jobs (prebuilt PC's ughhhh) and some upgrades and builds, but never something to this massive scale.

I have an old friend who reached out to me because he was interested in having a PC built for him. His cousin had a friend build one for him, and now my friend wants me to build one for him. All this time while he's telling me this, im thinking...oh boy its going to be like a 500$ budget...

He says he wants at least two monitors with room for upgrades and a black and red theme

Then he tells me he has 2k USD to spend on it. He wants everything included; Keyboard, Mouse, Headset, Monitors, and computer.

Recently he has gotten into gaming on his cousins PC and apparently has gotten very very good, so he decided to have a PC built.

I have been working on this partlist for almost three months now, and I must say, its quite impressive what i've been able to fit into a 2k budget.

I just want you guys to see what you think of the final (ish) partlist before I send it for him to purchase the parts.

Here goes:

Let me explain just a bit.
The mSATA SSD is for smart response on the mobo
The SSD is for the OS, Steam (not the steam library, just the app itself) and other small applications
The two 2TB drives are for RAID 1 as mass storage.
The case is at the bottom because its not on pcpartpicker so I had to add a custom one

Other than that, feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I will reply asap

Where do I start,

you are using a Z87 Chipset board, not bad or smth but you should get a z97 they cost the same

That 32GB PCI SSD is just useless

I would get a RM 750, just for the headroom,

This is my opinion, your my be different

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

Update Plans: Mini ITX this bitch

its a nice build, my taste would be slightly different.

i'd ditch one HDD, 8gb of ram and the cpu cooler and would get a better psu, an Hyper 212 Evo and Z97 motherboard.

and i'd rather have a 23-24inch monitor than two 21.5inch. but thats just me.

may your framerates be high and your temperatures be low. #pcmr

If you can, tell him that his choice for multi monitor isn't very good. For gaming, it's either 1 or 3, and 3 sucks imo, due to image stretching. So here's my suggestion. If he INSISTS on getting multimonitor at all costs, I guess you can remove the 1440p and go with 3x 1080p.

Also, don't buy mouse and keyboard online. Go to a local store, and test all the options they have. Just trust me on this one... each person handles it's peripherals differently, so that's too personal to recommend.

For 1440p or 3x1080p... maybe. It might have to turn down some seetings in those super demanding titles. You are right that you don't NEED sli, but it'll just push your graphical quality that much more. It'll also last that much longer.

I like this one. A lot. But im a sucker for Corsair stuff (as you can see below) so I might just have to do some combining of things to get what I feel is the best for him...

If I was spending that amount of money I'd do this build M8:

Yeah m8...I like this one...I really like it. The only thing I would change is 16GB of ram and a Black and red mobo because the Enthoo Pro has a sidepanel window and the GTX 970 strix's are red and black...

Thanks though, and I'll keep this one in mind for sure

If I was spending $2K on a pc I would want something better to game on than a 60Hz 21.5" Monitor. Also 8GB Ram is still good for gaming.

OPs not really asking questions, I find that funny.  Usually people come here looking to learn a bit how to build better for cheaper.  Our guy knows  ;)
