Dell Dimension Idea

FairladyZ

I inherited a Dell Dimension 2400 from a close friend recently. I am thinking of rebuilding it on the inside (ordering new parts)

Those parts might include:

4-8GB DDR3 memory

A new APU from AMD

New mobo (of course)

Repainting the case.

Would doing this be worth it? This has been an idea of mine for years, and I've always wanted to do something like this to a Dell Dimension, since they are my favorite off the shelf desktop computers. Even if this isn't worth it financially, I will probably still do this.

Yes it is possible to find parts that will fit in the dell 2400 case but by doing this it won't be a dell anymore.

I don't see why you would do that, its basically building a new rig.

Yea it's pretty much building a new PC, but ripping apart another just for the case. A good analogy would be a psychopath ripping off someone's skin so that his mannequin looks more realistic. You can do it, but it's kinda a pain in the ass.....

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

IMO, no. Just buy a case and mod that.
