Help with wiring

oarsa

Hello everyone,

I'm going to be building my first computer in the next month and am trying to learn as much as possible beforehand. I will be going with dual loops and had some questions about wiring it all up.

Motherboard - Asus x99 deluxe

psu - evga p2 1200w

The build will have 12 corsair fans and two D5 pumps.

1. What is the best way to wire the fans and pumps?

2. Will I need any special connectors for all the fans? I prefer not to buy a separate fan Controller.

Thank you for the help.

Something like this will allow you to connect a ton of fans and control their speed with the motherboard http://www.frozencpu.com/products/20988/ele-1196/Swiftech_8-Way_PWM_Cable_Splitter_-_SATA_Power_8W-PWM-SPL-ST.html

Step 1: Don't get Corsair fans

Step 2: DON'T GET CORSAIR FANS.

Step 3: Get the Swiftech PWM splitter for fans, it's really the only way.

Step 4: Don't get Corsair fans, get be quiet! fans.

Thanks, More beginner questions incoming.

1. Does the splitter plug into the psu?

2. Which motherboard headers should I plug the splitters into?

Why no corsair fans? Im using 5 SP120s. They're great. And silent.

It says to put it into CPU_Fan i think but it really doesnt matter as long as its a 4pin header that you can controll with your mobo. And the whole thing plugs into a Sata Power connector from your psu.

Are you kidding? I have SP fans silent editions, and they sound like lawnmowers! Try getting be quiet! fans and you will never go back

I got 5 silent editions blowing at full speed. (Cooling a 240mm and 360mm radiator) and they're silent.

But I may try be quiet fans in the near future.

Just out of curiosity, why dual loops? My workstation with dual E5s is all on one loop, with a good pump for it and it holds strong.

The projects never end in my line of work.

Honestly just to fill the case out.

I wouldn't do that.... save room for expansion later. I still have room even with my WS, save yourself the trouble, and money.

  1. the pumps should be run from the PSU as direct power. the fans

your choice, really. i'd wire them static voltage and leave 'em alone.

having them ramp up and slow down usually makes more noise

    than necessary.

  2. you can use a fan splitter. if you use the PWM version, you can use the

gelid PWM splitter and allow the mobo to control the speed vs temperature.
