HTC One (M8) not turning on

mushies1337

Alright, so I was watching some LTT CES Coverage only to have my screen freeze up. I waited a bit but it just stayed there. So, I just turned the display off. I tried turning it back on but nothing happened. I tried charging it, the charging light didn't come on. Then I heard the sound of my phone shutting down (without anything on the screen happening) and it won't turn back on. Temps were normal, the phone didn't overheat. Any suggestions?

You should try recovery mode I guess, http://www.android.gs/enter-recovery-mode-on-htc-one-2/

If that doesn't even get a peep, might be a battery or hardware problem. In which case you're better off asking HTC what to do, might be an RMA.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

Had the same on my M7. Holding the on button at the same time as the volume down button did the trick for me once. I had the problem once later and I had to RMA it. Its something with the battery is what I was told. Now I haven't got any problems anymore. RMA the phone is what I would suggest. There is certainly something wrong.

It has done this before about 3 months ago, but I just waited and it turned itself on.

I'll see what I can do with all the recovery business.

I've noticed something a bit strange, the phone is still generating a bit of heat even after I let it sit for a bit.

Either it is actually running without showing it (bad) or the battery is faulty (potentially REALLY bad). Best to remove the battery to be safe.

You can't remove the battery from the One M8, it's a non removable back like an iPhone

Oh dear, I forgot about that.

Well then ehhhm, hope it isn't the battery exploding? :P

It stopped generating heat a few minutes ago and it hasn't exploded xD

I think it's dead now though, it's been about 2 hours since it crashed.

Well then inform HTC about the brick and get an RMA ticket :P

Hopefully then it has run out of charge, try charging it and turning it on, then see about contacting HTC

I'm charging it right now, it's generating heat again.

Still no peep from it.
