Sound cutting out at certain points

Juckil

So I just got a new computer and it works brilliantly, all aside from the sound.

What happens is at certain points audio just completely cuts out. For example when I'm loading a menu it often cuts out, it also cuts out at random points during games. Strangely, it also cuts out for up to a few seconds at specific points in youtube videos. I don't mean random points I mean certain points in the video that if I rewound and played it back it would cut out again! I'm sad :(

Anyone know what the issue is and how I can fix it? I'm currently using the same headphones I was using an hour ago on my old PC and they were working fine so it can't be them

Driver problem maybe? Try finding the newest driver from mobo's website.

I'm talking about when I use my headphones on the PC, despite them working perfectly just before on my old PC.

Okay so I just did a little fiddling around and I discovered it only happens when the sound is at a low volume, like 5%. At quiet points (i think) sound in videos cuts.

For a temporary fix I'm keeping system sound on max but then lowering everything form inside the game or video etc. Nevermind turns out that doesn't work.

Anyone know how to stop it happening completely?

Hmm, there's probably some sort of magic the mobo does switching off all audio under a certain point so it doesn't play the background noise when the music stops. The only solutions are to keep the volume higher, or get a different source which doesn't do this.
