From C70 to Air 540, bad idea?

Sicarius

Hi all, so I am 17 and work a very crappy job that pays £4 an hour. It has taken me about a year to get my PC where it is, along with peripherals etc. I have my case on the floor atm with the window covered as it can't fit on my desk (too long for where I want it) and have been thinking of getting the air 540 as an "upgrade" to allow me to put it on my desk and show my sexy parts off ;). One issue I have is I am not sure how the air 540 is noise wise compared to the C70, I have been told two completely different opinions by two different people, noise matters to me and my c70 is currently a little noisy for my liking (h100i, 4fans). So, is the air 540 any louder than the c70 or is it really no different? Is the air 540 not as long as the c70, if not is it by much in the real world? Is this in any way a downgrade in your own personal opinions? This isn't a cheap decision to make!

I plan to do a custom water loop in a few months, mainly for looks but also because it is something I have also wanted to do, the air 540 seems to be a lot better for w/cing suprisingly.

It's a good idea if you really need a new case. I did it and it's easier to build in along with there being lower temps due to higher airflow. The Air 540 is no different in terms of sound with the same fans, but 140MM fan mounts allow for quieter fans.

A case is as noisy as the fans and components you put in it, otherwise it just sits there... It has room for five 140mm fans, so that's a thing I guess and on mine the mostly sit at 30% which is damn-near silent.

I see, Corsair link doesn't seem very stable, tried turning my fans down more, I set them all at 650RPM and they stay at 900, may be worth investing in a proper fan controller. Anyone know how much smaller it is length-wise compared to the C70?

Does an one know what the size difference is length wise between the two in the real world? Is it negligible.?

Air 540 is 10cm less deep, 5cm shorter and 10cm wider. (10cm = 3.93", 5cm = 1.96" if you're silly and use the Imperial system)

As for the Corsair link bit, fans can only go so low. 900RPM might be the lowest your fans can go.

Just get quieter fans, it will help more for noise then getting a whole new case.

SSD: Soon to be intel 730 250GB

GPU: Soon to be a 970 Strix

Please no. Waste of money SSD and stupid bandwagon GPU.

I've since decided I'd get the Samsung 840 pro. And what's wrong with the GPU? What alternatives do you recommend?

840 Pro still isn't competitive for the money compared to SP610/SP900 and MX100 tbh

For the 970 get a Gigabyte Gaming G1.
