chkdsk needs a system restore to run, system restore needs to run chkdsk first.

The screen flickers off before I can view any errors, sorry.

Try running chkdsk from the windows installation disc via the recovery environment...

If you cannot get into the recovery environment, try to use a windows install disk to get into the pre-install environment. Then choose the "repair your computer" option. Once you get past the keyboard selection and the password prompt try running CHKDSK from the command line.

better put these switches too : chkdsk (*): /r /f

 

(*)-> your windows driver letter

/r is to also repair damaged sectors and /f is to fix damaged files..
