4770k overclock

thatrandomguy777

Hi, I have never overclocked before, but I have a 4770k on a Maximus 6 hero motherboard. I am cooling it with the hyper 212 evo. I was wondering if there was any way I could overclock it inside of windows 7. I was also looking for links to good stress testers. Any tips would help, thanks.

Overclocking through the OS is not advised. Just do it through the BIOS

 eGPU Setup: Macbook Pro 13" 16GB DDR3 RAM, 512GB SSD, i5 3210M, GTX 980 eGPU

New PC: i7-4790k, Corsair H100iGTX, ASrock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer, 24GB Ram, 850 EVO 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080 Fractal Design R4, EVGA Supernova G2 650W

Read up on it first. It's not something you just jump into. With your cooler, you can do a small overclock but due to heat at higher OC's, it wouldn't suffice.

I would recommend you OC in the BIOS.

If you really want to do in the OS, you can probably find instructions on how to do that in your motherboard's manual. You will most likely need to download some sort of utility software from the manufactures website.

AI Suite utility is ASUS utility you can use to overclock within Windows, but like others advise, it's best to do it in the BIOS.
