X icons on all desktop shortcuts

thorpj

Hi there, this is a pretty minor thing, but i'd still like to know what's going on.

So this is what my desktop looks like. It happened two days ago, where it showed a sync icon (similar to the OneDrive sync icon) then it showed a green tick, then the Xs appeared. I ran Windows Defender and Malwarebytes - nothing there. Its happened again today and looks like this

Only shortcuts show the X (My Computer seems like a shortcut to me, but it doesn't have an X) and i put the Unigine link there because its not a shortcut, its a physical text file.

I've installed Malwarebytes and Startisback recently.

Ok. So i tried something. I put a shortcut of a OneDrive document to the desktop, and it showed the sync icon on the desktop, but when i made the shortcut in File explorer, it just shows the normal shortcut icon.

and now they've all changed: #1 shows a document in file explorer looking normal. #2 shows the change.

Doesn't seem like a serious problem, but i don't know what it is.

thanks in advance!!
