Adding usb 3 ports.

so i see the fractal 3500 is on for cheap, so what i want to know is is there any way to add 2 usb ports into a 5.25" without disabling the one that are there to begin with.

 

 

i ask because i like the looks slightly more than a r4 and it has basicly the same internals so if i can get a windowed version of teh 3500 for $69.99 cad over $79.99 for a non windowed r4

Or just create a panel with some usb 3.0 extensions off the usb 3.0 header.

aslong as your board has the headers you can get a multi panel on the front

Yes.  If your motherboard has more than one usb header then you can just get a 5.25" bracket with usb and add them.

Well, you could also make-shift a 5.25" cover and cut out two usb 3.0 holes; and then just find an internal usb 3.0 header to two female usb 3.0 (like an extension cable type thing).

And then just pick up a piece of plastic, metal, plexi, whatever...paint it a matching color, and make two cutouts for the usb 3.0 cables.

but that nzxt one would replace the usb 3,0 header of the case, but that hub would be good, if it fit nice in the 5.25" bay

i dont have internal usbs, i have a usb 3 header and 2 usb 2 headers

The 3500 is only worth it if you like the aesthetics better and want to screw around a bit.

i do think it will be worth it for me, tis cheaper than a windowed r4 by 40$ and i think the front looks better, but it wont be as quiet, i relized im being petty and honestly i only use the extra ports for charging so i will just get a hub later, but a cardreader wold be nice, i might rip it out of my old case

Although, I would still (I think) go for the core 3500, I just hate the whole door on a computer...

still i don't know what the point is for having more than 2 usb 3ports

you can have 2 usb drives copy to the pc at same time with high speed if you wan't more storage at speed go for an extra hdd instead throwing all the stuff on external drives or cards.

 

if you import photo or video from an sd card etc and you have transferring 2x 32 gb files you will have time enough to edit all the files and copy at same time.

stay with the 2 headers not worth the money for once in a while you need 3 or 4 usb 3 ports.
