Fans spin and turn off instantly

Deczzz

I have just set up my first gaming rig and the fans spin (GPU, CPU Heatsink, Case Fans) and the power led works but then after a few seconds it shuts off completely and it try's to boot up again but also fails to do so. This is a constant process unless I stop power going to it.

My specs are

Motherboard: Gigabyte z87x-D3H

CPU: Intel i5 4670k

GPU: EVGA GTX 770 2GB Superclocked ACX

RAM: Corsair vengeance 8gb

Cooler Master EVO 212 CPU FAN

Corsair CX600M

Check all your power connectors. Make sure they are the right connector. Sounds to me like a loose 24 pin or 8 pin. The two pins in the 24pin that allow the psu to turn on seem to be working. Make sure your ram is seated correctly as well.

Should there be a pin missing in the 24pin?

sounds like your psu is detecting a short, make sure things are connected properly, make sure you have all your motherboard mounts in as well, I had this exact issue when I was trying to use a haswell refresh with a z87 board, ended up just swapping the boards cause microcenter is awesome and then everything worked fine, others suggested that you had to flash your bios for this (I didn't have the means for it)

Unplug everything and inspect all the connectors, then plug everything back in firmly.  You could also try cleaning your ram, otherwise you might be looking at a defective mobo or psu.

Do the paperclip test for the psu, if that works your mobo is the problem

Best way to rule out shorts is to do an out of the case build. The motherboard box will work fine (don't use the antistatic bag!!, its designed to conduct electricity) , if it works out of the case, you had a short somewhere, and rebuild inside the case with extra care. Its ideal to do the out of the case build and get a successful post before you build in the case to save time and hassle.

Install the CPU, if using liquid cooling just use the stock cooler for this, install the ram and primary vid card and see if it posts, if it does and you are using multiple cards, shut down and test the other card(s) separately  , if they all post get to building in the case, if not trouble shoot the bad part(s) and deal with them as needed.
