Hard to word this properly..... Keyboard... "calibration"?

Jedicake

My friend says sometimes when he's typing in Steam chat, his words get suddenly get deleted and he has to type them over again and it sometimes repeats multiple times in a row. Is there any way to find out if a keyboard has issues or is working fine, like a program of some sort?

I would find it hard to believe it's a keyboard issue if it only happens in Steam chat. Does it work fine normally (e.g. in notepad), or is it a problem everywhere?

Then again, I've never had any issues with steam chat. What's his keyboard model?

Update: He says it's the A key that does it and he tested it in Notepad and it does the same thing. Any suggestions?

Are you able to explain more clearly what happens? He's typed some words, then when he presses 'a', what exactly happens? Does it delete the last word? All of the words? The last character? And does it still type an 'a' or not?

Mech or membrane keyboard? There are two reasons for this. One is software side where something lags and seems like everything comes twice because of it. If its membrane, second thing is that switch hub is starting to wear out. Keys don't register, get stuck or input twice. In that case, new keyboard is only option.
