Go to solution Solved by Gachr,

Hi.

Case is Fractal Design Def R4.

I just assumed that is was because of the gpu upgrade. The XfX psu is 2 years + old.

XFX PSU's have 5 year warranty, RMA.

Good day to you linustechs out there, i need some advice about my upcoming psu "upgrade".

I just bought a MSI 780 gaming gpu for my rig.

And specs are:

Intel i7 oc to 4.2

Sabertooth z77 mobo

CM seidon 240m cpu cooler

2 - 140 mm Fractal D quiet fans

2 - 120 mm Noctua NF-F 12 fans

1 SSD

2 HHD

1 soundcard

Fan controller

........

Before i got the 780 card i had a 660 ti and everything was great, after the gpu swap my psu XFX ProSeries XXX Edition 750w (bronze) is sounding like a chopper. I looked up on some forumes (not only this one) and my cpu should handle this. But noe i getting a bit nervous becouse of the noise under heavy load.

Thinking of going up to a 1000W psu (gold)

What would u guys pick ?

Im looking in the 200 $ range.

Here in sunny hot Norway im looking at the Corsair RM1000 and the EVGA Supernova g21000w.

Any thoughts?

I an in need of some tips on this one!

Thanks!! ;)

Your power supply is already more than enough in terms of power, you should give it for RMA. What's your case?

A 780 likely won't even use 300W. The system should be able to run perfectly well on 500W. It's not the Wattage.
