PC freezes in BF3/4

Hello guys,

since a couple of days i am running into problems with my PC. Whenever i play Battlefield 3 or 4, my PC freezes into a black screen when the map is changed or i simply want to quit the game. When i am on skype with a mate, sometimes we can still talk when this happens.

Sometimes my  display says that there is no cable connected. Sometimes its just black. After a while the PC restarts by itself and i can run windows as usual until i want to play again.

My System contains:

AsRock Z77 Extreme4-m

Intel Core I5 2500K @ stock speeds

8 GB of Team Group Elite RAM

ASUS GTX 770 (2Gigs)

Corsair Force 3 120GB SSD.

At the moment i am running Memtest to check whether it is a RAM issue. The RAM is almost 4 Years old.

Has anyone any ideas what could also cause these problems and which software could help me identify the problem?

Thanks in advance!

My System: AsRock Z77 Extreme4-m, Intel Core i5 2500K @4 Ghz, 8 GB of RAM, ASUS GTX 970(4GB)

1 TB of SSD Storage, BeQuiet Pure Power 730W PSU - All stuffed in a Corsair Obsidian 350D

Sounds like a ram or Cpu problem. Is the CPU OC'ed?

2GB of VRAM is not enough for BF4. It may be your GPU overheating. log temps next time via HWMonitor.

I think it has something to do with your punkbuster as it is only a problem with battlefield as I can read in your post, try to update punkbuster and let us know if that fixed it! :)

Go into each games' respective folders, find the DirectX Redistributable, and run it as administrator.  See if that helps.

Bullshit. I can run BF4 on my Radeon HD 7770 Ghz Edition, which has 1GB of VRAM.

I had a stuttering issue when playing on ultra, because I only had 4GB of RAM, so I upgraded to 8 and it fixed it self.

Since you already have 8GB, just re-install it?

Im sorry all go check the requirements, that's what I am basing it on and they did state on BF4 release <3GB VRAM and you wont get the best performance out the game.

Did I assume he is playing 1080p? yes

Did I just read that at 1080p you need 3GB vram according to devs? yes

Is OP's card having to use virtual memory when it runs of out VRAM so  making the card work harder? yes

Would that make the GPU get warmer? yes

Did I say to OP check your temps as it could be overheating? yes
