Thoughts on Alcatel OneTouch Idol X

Go to solution Solved by Oradian,

So after a few days, the phone is great however the laggy typing and messaging program kinda sucks as it already crashed on me. Build Quality was outstanding with crystal clear display. Even on games, it was fast, no lag, nothing BUT. the response time for my touches are way to slow. So I am returning it for probaly a Nexus 5 or Galaxy s4.

Build Quality: 5/5

Performance: 5/5

Touch Screen Responsiveness: 2/5

So recently bought a Alcatel OneTouch Idol X Black and so far it seems good except for some lag issues. I have 15 days to try this phone if I want to exchange it for another. I got this phone for free with a $30 plan for 2 year tab of $200.00 on Virgin Mobile. Location: Vancouver, BC

So thoughts on this phone? Preferably those who has personal experience with this phone. Specs wise I am fine with. Its more performance and reliability and user experience i am more worried about.

It's a really nice phone for the price if you don't care too much about extreme performance, the latest updates, or rooting/ROMs. However there is better. The thing that holds it back is the CPU. The MediaTek MT6589 sounds good on paper (quad core blah blah blah) but in reality it's based on Cortex A7 cores. The Desire 601 and Moto G would easily smoke it. If I was you I'd return it and get the Nexus 5 from Google Play or get a cheap phone and wait for the OnePlus One

So far after using it for a couple of hours, I found that my old HTC SENSATION was faster in response times in texting. And coming from my old phone, this phone performs way better than mine but sucks at multi tasking which is a big thing for me and i can't seem to find an easy way of force stopping applications. I will probally give this phone a couple more days see how it goes. Probaly gonna go with a Nexus 5 or the galaxy s4 if i do decide to switch.

So far, its okay...

Note: I am really picky on fluidity and responsiveness, precision and accuracy with touch.
