Can I hook a xbox 360 controller to a nvidia shield portable in console mode?

You should be able to do this fine, but NVIDIA took the controller compatibility list off their website (presumably because they want people to buy their $60 OP glorified wireless gamepad).

I'm looking to get a nvidia shield portable, I am interested in putting it into console mode. This is where the 360 controller comes in, I don't enjoy the feel of the Bluetooth controller that you can buy from nvidia. I know that the 360 controller isn't Bluetooth but if I was to use a micro USB to USB would I be able to use the 360 controller for console mode?
