new RX 580, tiny question

greetings forum, longtime LTT viewer, first time poster (be gentle!)

 

since i saw an RX 580 dip below $200 i impulse bought it to replace my dinosaur 7870 from 2012. very excited! i also ordered a dual 6 pin -> single 8 pin adapter since i do not have an 8pin available (remember, the system is from 2012).

 

is it safe to assume that as someone who doesn't plan on overclocking their card, this should be fine? my PSU is 700w so plenty of juice to spare, just not the exact plug.

 

card is not here yet and i figure worst case scenario is i should replace the PSU, but am i wrong to assume that i shouldn't run into any trouble?

What 700W PSU doesn't have a 6 and 8 pin power connector? That sounds sketchy if it's true

I used to use a dual 6 pin to 8 pi so my 1070 could overclock better, so it will actually give increased power overhead, which is a good thing.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

It's generally considered that if your PSU doesn't have the proper cables for your system, you should get a new one. But you should be ok

it's an iBUYPOWER machine from 2012, i picked the parts before i became more familiar with the tech so it's likely that it's not a brand name PSU. but literally every component of this machine has been 100% fine since i bought it so i'm not complaining. as long as the dual 6pin to 8pin will be ok i'll go with that for now.
