Yes, I did connect them and checked that it's all the way  several times.

The artifact thing happened only one time, while I my monitor was connected to the onboard graphics.

And it was indeed seated all the way, I also tried getting the mobo out of the case because I thought it would have interfered with something from it but I had the same results.

Uh oh. Sorry, might be a dead card :/ See if you can ask for a replacement?

Hello! So yesterday my "new" GTX 970 arrived, though when I mounted it in the PC and started it, it wouldn't send any signal to the monitor, not even the boot screen. I do think it's booting into windows as it doesn't shut off immediately after pressing the power button, and if I try to switch to onboard graphics with the card plugged in,it works fine, on device manager it wouldn't show me the card but "Microsoft default video adapter (i think)" My older GPU, a GT 730 works completely fine, but problem is I can't go test the gpu somewhere because there aren't any "tech places" in our city,

Also, one time I tried to fire it up (it was also the last one), I had my GPU in and I was connected to the onboard graphics, and when I booted in windows login screen it was all froze up and full of artifacts.

I'll leave my specs below in case it's something from my side.

CPU - Intel Core i5 4590 3.3 ghz

GPU - Gigabyte GT 730 / MSI GTX 970

PSU - nJoy Titan 600w

RAM - 1x HyperX 4gb and 1x 8gb ram stick

Mobo - Asrock H81M-VG4

Thank you in advance for helping.

"and when I booted in windows login screen it was all froze up and full of artifacts. "

Welp. That might be a faulty card. Some troubleshooting steps first though,

Are you sure it's seated in all the way?

Is the additional 4/8-pin power connector connected? (The GT 730 does not have this since its such a low powered card, you might've forgotten to plug it in)

(Basically, have you followed all the instructions in the absolutely adorable MSI GPU installation guide?)

Desktop: HP Z220 Workstation, 12 GB RAM, 2x500 GB HDD RAID0, + GTX 1060 3GB

Laptop: ThinkPad T430, 8 GB RAM, 1x120 GB SSD
