Hi,

I just read this GamersNexus article about GPU's  used for productivity and I'm surprised by the part on Premiere Pro. I watched a JayzTwoCents video a few years ago clearly showing that the GPU doesn't really matter for video rendering, that you only need any discrete GPU to do the trick.

So now I'm confused and my world is falling apart. Can anyone explain?

I believe it simply depends on the codec you use, some take advantage of the GPU, some don't.

Gigabyte X570 UD

Ryzen 5 5600x

16GB 3200mhz ram

Asus TUF Rx5700XT

600w PSU

256GB NVME boot drive

1tb sata ssd game drive

2tb mechanical storage drive

Logitech G815 Tactile

Logitech G502

AudioTechnica ATH-G1WL

i use sony vegas pro 16 and rendering all depends on the format and codec you use in vegas it has options for cpu or gpu which you can click when rendering that utilizes the gpu rendering with an mp4 format but the are also different codecs to just use cpu power and check what you render as as some like .mp4 and .wmv will render with different performance.

all in all depending on the settings you do not need a discrete gpu but i find it useful if you have one as it will render much faster at the right settings

Arctic frost

Depends on what you render with. Pretty simple really. Pick the codec and refer with the component that’s associated with it.
