I've been really frustrated recently by my new SSD (480GB ADATA XPG SX8200 M.2) Every time I turn the computer on I get a different story. It's like it just forgets random settings whenever it's turned off. Does this sound like a hardware or software problem to you guys? Some examples of the things it "forgets"

Steam settings, (friend notifications, fps counter)

VPN settings - Auto connect just doesn't work or turns itself off

Task scheduler tasks just randomly become disabled

Steam games act like it's my first time running the game even though i have save data that I load into

GTA V crashes on loading about 40% of the time. I have to restart steam and then it works fine.

It seems like it's only settings and applications that go bad. I have lots of files stored on it and they aren't going corrupt or anything, they work fine. I'ts like the thing boots into windows so fast that it glitches out and doesn't load in the settings. The drive is about half full (used to be like 90% full) currently at 195gb used out of 480gb.

I thought maybe it was my RAM overclock but after reverting it to stock speed (3200mhz) it made no difference.

If anyone has suggestions i'd really appreciate it. I spent a lot of time and money on this build and have just been so frustrated that i'm doing bug fixing every time i turn it on. When this thing works its stupid fast, but with how unreliable it has been im ready to go right back to a hard drive.

The build =

EVGA GTX1070 ICX SC @ 2084MHz
Ryzen 5 2600 (6 cores, 12 threads, 19mb Cache) @ 4000GHz
16GB TridentZ RAM @ 3333MHz, CL 16
480GB ADATA XPG SX8200 M.2 SSD @ 3,200 MB/s Seq Read / 1,700 MB/s Seq Write / 310,000 IOPS Random Read
ASrock X470 Taichi Motherboard
1TB 7200RPM Seagate HDD
550w XFX PSU
Cooler Master H500 case w/ 2 200mm RGB front fans and glass side panel
Total build cost w/ tax & shipping = $890.70

Run a full disk scan. This seems like a bad drive. Id just rma it.

Also try it with out the oc, thats not helping your here.

Could be OS install. Don't know how/what the OP did first. Best to check OS and "SMART" report. Then decide if it's driver/OS/settings or a dying SSD.

Thanks for the replies. It was a new OS install yes. I just used a USB boot drive. I was suprised to see that when i went to activate windows it had already detected my old OS apparently because windows was already activated. It was a fresh install though.
What should i scan the drive with? How do I access it?  Im a noob when it comes to SSD's.
