CPU VS INTEGRATED GRAPHICS...HELP!

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

well a small project I did was work on this website http://www.zackit.biz/ I also make apps and I probably work with anywhere from 20 to 60 layers on any given project. That example though was really easy and just a couple.

How's this look?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2y6bv

I  can't decide whether I would benefit more from a better cpu or for a graphics card. Basically what I want is pure speed and being able to run a lot of things at a time. I do no gaming I may be over clocking not sure. But I want to have over clocking ready build. I want the build to be anywhere from 800 to 900 dollars. I know this could possibly be in new builds and planning but I wanted people who knew more about cpu's for this topic.

I7-4960x, just kidding, You will need some graphics power no matter what, but get a intel chip with intel iris pro, it's pretty powerful, and they are good processors.

so go with integrated graphics with iris pro and then just get a graphics card later

We need to know exactly what things you intend to run at the same time.

Console optimisations and how they will effect you | The difference between AMD cores and Intel cores | Memory Bus size and how it effects your VRAM usage |
How much vram do you actually need? | APUs and the future of processing | Projects: SO - here

Intel i7 5820l @ with Corsair H110 | 32GB DDR4 RAM @ 1600Mhz | XFX Radeon R9 290 @ 1.2Ghz | Corsair 600Q | Corsair TX650 | Probably too much corsair but meh should have had a Corsair SSD and RAM | 1.3TB HDD Space | Sennheiser HD598 | Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro | Blue Snowball

If you're not gaming or doing anything gpu heavy, I don't see the need for a graphics card.

We need to know exactly what things you intend to run at the same time.

Budget: 800 to 900 american dollars

Aim: To run all of my programs fast and for it to be able to handle a lot of programs at a time as much as my budget provides. This is going to go along with my macbook pro( late 2012.)

Peripherals: I have all of them already.

Monitors: one

Why I'm upgrading: I'm upgrading to make working more organized and faster and also I do no gaming at all I also run a lot of graphic design software but no 3d work

adobe photoshop cs6, adobe dreamweaver cs6, google chrome, not all at the same time but mostly I don't usually have a lot of tabs open in google chrome. I don't do anything to do with 3d work

You don't really need a lot of compute power for something like that. Photoshop is the most demanding thing in there and even then you can run than very smoothly on a mobile i3 with very little trouble.

I think an Intel or AMD APU would be best for you and that budget is very much overkill for something like this.

Nice small form factor, SSD for fast boot up speeds and for files you need to access fast and then the 2TB for mass storage as I know graphic design is very file size intensive.

Do you need a copy of Windows?

By one monitor, do you have one already or do you still need one?

$90 cooler on a $140 cpu... Looks like a waste of money.

If he ever needs more power he can overclock and/or upgrade to something Kaveri or it's successor provided it's on FM2+ .

What kind of content do you work on?

The h80i just doesn't seem like a good value considering how much cheaper and how well a 212 Evo performs..

All down to personal choice, I do agree with you that whilst the h80i may not be great value the total build list still undercuts the OPs expected budget so I figured why not spend a little more? E.g. EVO SSD and a premium case like the 350D.

He might as well get an actual graphics card. Considering he's using Photoshop, it would probably be quite better than an APU.

Photoshop is not demanding at all. I've used i3 2120s with Internal graphics and ran it fine and considering how much more powerful an a10-6800k is I think it'd be better in this situation plus this would allow him to upgrade to something like Kaveri which as we know performs very very well with HSA especially in things like Photoshop.

It depends what you're working on.

I asked already if you scroll up and look. I'm waiting for a response before deciding what a good suggestion would be to the OP.

Touché , guess we'll have to wait to find out the kinds of projects the OP is working on.

I work on graphics design like web design

Are there any examples you can provide?

Examples of project sizes or number of layers you normally work with?
