slightly oc'd card causing crashes

I was oc'ing my new 1070ti and I managed to get it past 1000mhz just barely and I saved the profile. I didn't change anything else besides using EVGA's default custom fan curve, which I doubt makes the nvidia display driver crash. The profile is now the default clock speed on the card, and whenever I try and start up precision XOC it crashes the display driver and I can't open the program. This was also happening previously when I would be in XOC and apply an oc, the driver would crash and XOC would start acting up, and when I restarted XOC it didn't recognize my card. I honestly have no idea whats happening and the only think i can think of, is the fact that my pc has older hardware and is running windows 7. Does anyone know what might be happening here? And should I expect this on my new pc that I have planned?

It's possible you just lost the silicon lottery and you cant OC your card at all. It happens.

Also make sure you use DDU to uninstall all previous drivers then reinstall the proper modern driver.

shittt I forgot about DDU. I've heard of it but can you explain it to me? Or do I just need to look into it and install it

Download, put on USB, restart using USB as boot device, follow instructions. Reinstall nvidia drivers when you get back to windows.

Aaa I see. What I recall doing is when I booted my pc into windows with the new card, it booted into safe mode and I un-installed the AMD driver that was on my pc and it rebooted out of safe mode. I guess thats when the overclocking stuff happened, then I tried installing the version 416 (newest one) driver and nVidia uninstalled the old driver. I'll make sure I use DDU but did I do anything wrong?

Sometimes uninstalling doesn't get it all, especially when going from AMD to Nvidia.

Use DDU now (it'll completely uninstall everything), then reinstall the nvidia drivers.

Whats weird is I didn't have an AMD card, I had an old GTX 960. So i figure thats what I did wrong? I figured going into AMD's catalyst control wizard and uninstalling the display driver would do it, and it seemed to work. So I did something wrong here?

Why was there an AMD driver on the computer if it was using NVidia graphics card?

Seriously, for the third time.

USE DDU.

THEN REINSTALL DRIVERS.

THEN TEST.

I'm setting everything up right now, I was typing from a laptop. I'm not sure why there was an amd display driver, I'm not the one who set up the pc. I'm gonna assume its because when this pc was first built, we didn't have a nvidia card, we were using the intergrated radeon graphics on the a-series chip in my pc. So maybe when my brother put in the card, he didn't uninstall the amd driver for the APU
