So right now since it's discount season I'm looking to buy myself a new fancy gaming laptop with all the good specs, gtx 1070, i7-8750h, etc., but it seems I have hit a roadblock. I found two splendid systems on discount and I can't choose between them. One is the Msi GP63 Lepoars-428 while the other is the Asus ROG strix scar II. MSI: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834154900&Description=gaming lapop&cm_re=gaming_lapop-_-34-154-900-_-Product

Asus: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834235087&Description=gaming lapop&cm_re=gaming_lapop-_-34-235-087-_-Product

I can't seem to make my mind on which one to choose, should I go with MSI's option with the same specs, but a little bit of a worse display, or should I go for the Thin-bezel beast on Asus' side and not be able to afford food for the next week? I made a similar thread on the r/suggestalaptop reddit thread and didn't get much help there. So I would like it for this community to help me choose, or give me better recommendations if possible. The absolute most I'm willing to pay is $1600, or I might not be able to keep up my Brazz- I mean netflix subscription.

Having owned both MSI and Asus products, I'm really struggling to recommend either.

ASUS has beyond terrible customer support.

however, My current MSI motherboard has been failing since it was opened up. I do not have personal experience with MSI customer support, but what I've heard hasn't exactly been stellar either. My cousin has an MSI laptop (if I can get a model number for you, I will) and the RMA process to replace a dead fan took about three weeks.

Based on the fact that I don't know a whole whackton about gaming laptops, my vote here is going to go to MSI, with the caveat that I obviously don't know as well as others do.

Both models have trouble cooling the 1070 GPU, however GP63 is better

Are you from US? Only for gaming? Any preference on weight and display size?

Yes I am in the us, I would like the laptop to be lighter than 7 lbs

MSI GP63/GP73 is decent. Can also consider HP Omen 17t (customize), however it's heavy.

The 120TN panel is GP63/GP73 is excellent, just need some calibration (if you want)
