Mouse troubles

Go to solution Solved by roid,

So your mouse died and now are you using a new mouse? Are the only problems with your mouse when surfing on your web browser? If its just causing problems when your surfing the web, try using a different web browser like Opera. If its causing problems on your desktop, on programs, or pretty much anywhere try reinstalling your mouse drivers. Click start--right click computer--click manage--click device manager-- click mice and other pointing devices--make sure you uninstall your old mouse driver if you see it there--find the mouse your using now--right click it and click update driver software...--if that doesnt work uninstall it---unplug ur mouse and replug it in (or restart your computer)--your windows should automatically detect ur mouse and then reinstall your mouse driver. Let me know how that turns out.

Long story short, I must have built up significant electric charge before I sat down to use my computer because once I touched the mouse I got a really strong shock, the mouse died (tried using it in different ports/computers in the house to no avail), and now some things are acting funky. Ill post some example pictures as attachments to try and get the greater point across.

So did I mess up my motherboard or something by possibly sending that electricity back up the mouse to the tower??? I'm fearing the worst right now. I hope someone has at the very least heard of this because I also fear that this is extremely uncommon and most who read this will just scratch their heads at this unfortunate occurrence.

Thank you.

Edit: just realized that the second picture has ANOTHER example of the first -__- ugh it's so annoying.

Edit #2: Oh also I tried recovering my OS to a week before, uninstalling and re-installing chrome, and even rolling back a gpu driver with no positive results.

Is that you dead mouse working again or are you using some other mouse? Try to remove mouse drivers and remove mouse itself from device manager. Then plug it back and install drivers. Boot could be good in between. I'm pretty sure your mobo is fine. You would need straight shock to pcb to damage something. Static from mouse by cable is too weak and there's too much rubber/plastic in between.

I have this old Compaq mouse I keep as a backup in case anything like this might occur. I did as you said and no improvement. I'll try using Opera to see if the browser issue will go away.

I'm using some other mouse (see above). I'm gonna see if I use some other browser it might help. It's the strangest thing though, this was NEVER a problem before the mouse died. I'm just perplexed as to how this could happen.
