It should be fine for most games on default settings.  Just don't plan on playing with the super sampling settings much.

I've got a i5-4690K with 16GB Ram and 980Ti and an i5-7300HQ laptop with 8 GB Ram and 1060 6 GB.

Your cpu should be about 10-15 % slower than the desktop but 10% faster than the laptop.

Both handle VR fine on default settings, maybe 1.1-1.2 Super sampling depending on how demanding the game is.

Tested with Vive (original) Rift, and Samsung WMR headsets.

You might have to lower the setting on games like Elite Dangerous, DCS World, or Project Cars 2 as they are extra demanding but they do work.

i mean even a gt 1030 can run vr.. you have to turn resolution to %20 in windows mixed reality settings and you will probably puke.. but its worth it to get a solid 10fps on superhot

yeah that should be good, except i agree with @WikiForce get 16gb ram

also i suggest a Ryzen 5 2600..
