Dual gpu

so I got the MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti ARMOR 11G OC Graphics Card and it says its a dual gpu what is that and what are the benefits of it? downsides?

On this model "Dual" refers to the card having two fans.

dual fan GPU, just like how Palit and Asus both have graphics cards called 'dual'

 

Real dual GPUs will be things like the AMD R9 295X2 or Nvidia GTX 690, both having 2 GPU cores on the same PCB.

They can also mean that it's a dual slot card (which refers to how thick it is). They probably saw that and mistook it for dual GPU die.

That's not how the site defines "dual GPU" it says what they're referring to right on the page

Yeah I know what it says, I'm just saying that they could've seen that it's a "dual slot" GPU, thought it meant "dual GPU" and translated that into their own terminology on the site.

Yeah, but with this site is already shows they made a mistake. So are they suppose to write "dual slot" or "dual fan" or whatever? Who knows at this point.
