No. If the CPU is removable, it's got a standard socket

APPLE used CPUs without lids on some of their Mac Pro's, meaning it wasn't practical to reuse them in another device (or replace them), but that's the only time I know of that a brand using a not standard socketed [x86] CPU.

Apple also had custom BGA chips on macbook airs, but that isn't relevant I guess

I want to use the CPU from an Acer prebuilt I have for a new build, is it possible that the CPU will only work with the prebuilt's motherboard and wont work with a motherboard that its supposed to work withZ

Why do you want to replace a motherboard from a system which has a standard form factor motherboard?

If the PC broke, take it back to the store, it's a newer PC

He wants to build a custom pc and reuse some parts... whats the issue with that?

Mate, just think about it. How is a new motherboard going to help them...

Well yeah obviously it won't, but that shouldnt stop him from building a system. Only economical to reuse parts

No, it is. If you say, "hey guys?", is that only talking about males?

In that context no, however in self proclamation, 'guy' (non plural) refers to a single male person.

Same as how in another language like French if you say il, it refers to a single male. If you say ils, it refers to a group of people, not specifically male.

You can install a graphics card into the system as it is, though if you do want to swap it out for something more aesthetically pleasing that makes sense.

Make sure your power supply is adequate

You might have an issue with older graphics cards, but usually you should be fine with prebuilts.

Front panel headers are almost always standard. If a OEM wants to make a board be proprietary, they change the form factor, or power cables.

Yes, singular use of the word "guy" often used to define someone who is male, however not always. Do you really want to argue about the semantics?

Thought it was more of a civil conversation, but if we're arguing I'd rather not.

come on you two, cut it out. This is the least relevant thing to discuss in a thread like this.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

post a pic of the inside of the case, we'll tell you what kind of graphics card will work.

I understand that, I just think a visual of the motherboard layout and the power supply would reveal all we need to know.
