Speed troubleshooting

Zeorth

So I recently got 1000 Mbps internet speed. However, when I run a speed test it says that its just at 100 Mbps. I'm connected straight to the router with a Cat 6 Stranded UTP cable so I don't see why it won't go above 100 Mbps when I have 1000 Mbps.

Are the ethernet ports on your pc and router able to handle such speeds?

Some ports are 100Mbs max

As @FloRolf said, a megabit (Mbps) is 8 times less than a Megabyte (MBps). This might throw your speeds off. If you have 1000 Mbps, then you have at max 125MBps.

It should say 1.0Gbps, if not then that's the problem.

What model router?

is it really 100 Flat?

Because in that case it could actually be a 100mbit port holding you back. Some Routers have a power savinbg feature that limits some ports to 100mbit. What motherboard are you using?

If that's the case, then you're going to want to pick up a gigabit ethernet card from somewhere.

Hastighet means speed so I assume that's the case. What would I do with the ethernet card?

What model router do you have? It would be pointless to start with the motherboard as the issue if we don't know what it's connected to.

Indeed, but a PC without any drivers is kinda useless to beginn with.

If I change the speed and duplex to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex from Auto Negotiation it just says your ethernet cable is disconnected and I don't get any internet at all?
