Hello,

I am planning to build my first PC till the end of the year. Currently I have a laptop with i7-6700HQ and nvidia 960m 2GB. So now I am playing most games on Low to Medium settings. I want a PC to be able to play games at high at 1080p for the next 3 to 4 years. I am planning on buying a 4K monitor so it would be nice if I can play at 1440p. My budget is 1500 euro. I live in Bulgaria and I will be buying most of the parts from here. I am willing to buy from UK and Germany but only if they are significantly cheaper because I will be losing warranty.

Case - I don't know anything about cases. I picked this one because I like the design. https://ardes.bg/product/cooler-master-mastercase-mc500-cheren-mcm-m500-kg5n-s00-111000 93 euro

Motherboard - I don't really see the benefits for me of an ATX board, so I chose a microATX board because it is cheaper. Please correct me if I am wrong. I want a NVMe M2 slot. Currently I don't see B450 boards in Bulgaria with NVMe M2, so I chose this board https://ardes.bg/product/asus-tuf-b350m-plus-gaming-tuf-b350m-plus-gaming-105381 101 euro

CPU - I am thinking of buying an AMD 2600 and after an year after Ryzen 3rd gen are available to swap it for a 3700X. Given I will be using it temporarily I don't think there is need to get a 2600X as it is 61 euro more expensive. Also it comes with a cooler. https://ardes.bg/product/amd-ryzen-5-2600-3-4ghz-yd2600bbafbox-109232 184

RAM - it is currently quite expensive. I bought 8GB DDR4L 2 years ago for 40 euro. Now this is a rarely cheap stick I found. I am thinking 2x8GB. https://ardes.bg/product/8gb-ddr4-3000-adata-xpg-gammix-d10-bulk-ax4u300038g16-brg-108300 144 euro.

Storage - 500GB Samsung 970 EVO - https://ardes.bg/product/500gb-ssd-samsung-970-evo-mz-v7e500bw-110206 155 euro and 1TB WD Blue 7200RPM https://ardes.bg/product/1tb-wd-blue-wd10ezex-wd10ezex-41957 45 euro.

GPU - I was planning of getting a nvidia 2070. But after seeing the prices I think it is too expensive. A good 2070 is 700 - 750 euro. For 825 I can get a 1080TI. But this breaks my budget. So I am thinking of getting a 1080. https://ardes.bg/product/msi-geforce-gtx-1080-8gb-gaming-x-gtx-1080-gamingx-8g-79973 579 euro.

Power Supply - I have no idea what wattage I need and what are good brands. I picked this at random. - https://ardes.bg/product/750w-cooler-master-g750m-59498 90 euro

This brings the total to 1391 euro.

I am planning to build it myself. Any comments are welcome. I am not even sure if these parts are compatible. I also don't know if I'll be needing anything else. I am not in a hurry to buy a PC so I'll probably wait for Black Friday and maybe Christmas for discounts. But usually Bulgarian discounts are - we increase the price two days before the holiday so the new "discounted" price is higher than the regular price, so there may not be a point in waiting.

matx is fine, but going for NVMe isn't for a gaming rig. (more on storage drive section). Also all but the cheapest of AM4 boards (basically A320 chipset only) support NVMe, so I'm not sure how did you jump to that conclusion. BSI has the best B450 boards btw, much better than the best of B350 which comes from Asrock.

2600X does come with a better cooler than what the 2600 has, but I'd rather buy an aftermarket one instead :P

a 3700 (I prefer non-X since the X model provide unless features for those who know what they're doing) will need a bigger air cooler at the end so might as well buy one now.

DDR4L? You mean SODIMM (laptop form factor) DDR4? Unlike DDR3 which runs two voltages (normally 1.5v, DDR3L runs 1.35v) on desktop and laptops (yes desktop on DDR3L), DDR4 only has 1 voltage for desktop and laptops so there is no DDR4L for them (only on mobile phones, that is).

Make sure it's a pair of sticks so you can use dual channel memory.

Very overkill, SATA SSD will do more than well enough. Even for space saving, there are M.2 SATA SSDs.

Why not get a NVMe SSD for gaming? From the benchmarks of 970 EVO compared to my current 850 EVO, the 970 is 3 times faster.

Also I want to use the M2 slot for the SSD, and when I filter the motherboards on the website that have M2 NVMe, only a few B350 boards appear. And I checked for example this similarly priced B450 board - https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/PRIME-B450M-K/specifications/. It says "1 x M.2 Socket 3 with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (SATA & PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode)". As far as I understand, NVMe SSD (like the 970 EVO) won't work in this slot.

Thanks for the power supply thread.
