I am looking for some good Ram and a SSD.

I have a dual channel for ram on my mobo and was wondering what would be some decent ram. I need it to be a low profile as I have a giant CPU cooler, also would like at least 16GB. Was thinking of going with kingston hyperx. Have not done any research on Ram.

For the SSD I want to go with at least a 240-256GB and would like something higher end, was thinking of Kingston HyperX or Samsung EVO 840.

Mainly for gaming and video editing, will be using a 1440p monitor. Also tend to have lots of things running at the same time(bad habit)

I have-

Motherboard - Asus Maximus VI Formula

CPU - Intel 4770K

HDD - 3TB

GPU - Wanting Gigabyte Geforce GTX 780 TI GHz Edition

For RAM, something low like the Corsair Vengeance LPs or Crucial Ballistics LP will fit nicely.

For the SSD, any high-end SSD will work well, like the Plextor M5P, OCZ Vector, 840 Pro, Intel 530 etc. The 840 Evo will not last as long, but it is an incredible value.

I don't see the advantage in getting the 840 Pro, imo. All of the other SSDs you mentioned I would recommend as well.

Corsair Vengeance and Samsung 840 EVO

^This^ except LP Vengeance.

Intel SSD 530 240GB and Corsair Vengeance LP 1866MHz 2x8GB

Most likely.

Do you really need 1866MHz and 16GBs of it? I myself am getting 1600MHz 2x4GB Vengeance LP and I would think that atm that is enough. For normal use and gaming you won't need more than 8GBs, well at the moment that is. Though since you tend to leave programs open and you do video editing than 16GBs might be worth it. The G.SKILL Ares are a good choice as well, they are also low profile.

I'd get the 840 EVO over the 530, it's cheaper, has better read/write speeds and an extra 10GB. I don't know anything about the other specs. but to me the 840 EVO is better value.

The only advantage of the 840 Pro vs the Evo is the 5K MLC NAND vs the TLC NAND. Unless he is really hitting the the SSD, the Evo should be ok.

To me I don't think there is much of a difference, only different colour scheme and price, though aren't the read/writes speeds different as well?

Yes, the 840 Pro is slightly faster in reads, and much faster in writes, especially random ones, compared with drives 256GB and below. But read speeds are more important for normal OS use.

For RAM i would go for Patriot viper 3, beautiful looking and cheap at the moment. Of course corsair is a choice and a good one.

And for an SSD i wouldn't risk anything but crucial, its highly rated. Can be pricey but they're on offer here..

480 GB

120 GB

Hope this helps xx

Guys speaking RAM speeds? You really think the differences of high end RAM makes that much of a difference? I've done the tests my self. They're minimal, infact minute.

I look at sequential and random read/write speeds, capacity, waranty and price. I have no idea what the random read/write speeds mean but the pro is better at 4KB, QD32 but the EVO is better at 4KB, QD1 (again I have no idea what that means. Other than that the 6GB, higher power consumption (only marginally though), extra 2 year warranty and the different colour scheme your not getting any benefit, and to me power consumption, colour scheme and 6GBs are nothing.

So really your getting faster random 4KB QD32 read/write speeds, slower 4KB QD1 read/write speeds, 2 more years warranty and 6GBs for an extra $65.

To me that can be used towards other parts in the PC.

My sentiments exactly. The 840 Pro is for people who hit their SSD very hard (Like video production scratch disk), need the extra warranty, or just want the fastest SSD.

And that isn't me, so obviously I suggest the 840 EVO. Imo, you probably might notice the difference between the two but only if you are extremely experienced in SSDs or have two eact same  builds with the EVO in one and the Pro in he other. To me, the difference between the two isn't worth the $60.

Also, have you thought about selling your 7950? You might get a large profit as the demand for AMD cards are high. Lets not get into why ok, don't feel like ranting about bitcoin litecoin and other crappy cryptocurrencies.

Nope. It's dead. Rocking a Sapphire Tri-X 290 as a replacement from the shop.

Well you did get a very nice card. Probably the best 290.

For the ram I suggest the Crucial Ballistix Sport VLP

This is a true Low Profile memory kit, the PCB is actually shorter than other brands, and it looks ok. They also have a yellow sexy looking kit, where you can't see the green PCB (Crucial Ballistix Tactical LP).

Regarding quality, they are NAND flash manufacturers, they don't but the NAND from another company (Micron = Crucial).

No problem, I'm probably going to gt the Sapphire myself, has super low temps. compared to the other non-ref cards.

Yep, but it's massive, and amazingly quiet. And overclocks well. My 290 hits 1.2 GHz. :)
