Upgrade to ryzen?

I currently have an i7 6700 and thinking of upgrading to the ryzen 2700X around christmas would i be better to wait until Zen 2 in april or should i go ahead and get the 2700X was thinking of getting the 9700K too but not sure. I use di vinci resolve for my video edits and photoshop. I do gaming as well.

The only benefit you'll get is better export times in resolve. I'd just hold off until Zen 2, personally, as that's going to be a more significant bump in all scenarios.

Wait for zen 2 and then take that 6700 and use it in a NAS thats what I did with mine makes for great start for a server

If your computer does everything you need it to do now then you can wait, if you are having any specific problems that are game changing for yourself then upgrade. You will almost always be better off waiting in the grand scheme of things due to the relentless march of innovation.
