I currently have an AMD Athlon X2 370k Richland processor, I am considering swapping to a AMD Athlon X4 750k Trinity processor.

What sort of performance increase should I expect? Is it worth the hassle to swap?

I play games such as battlefield 4 and dota 2.

My current build:

- AMD Athlon X2 370K Richland 4.0GHz Socket FM2 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor

- CORSAIR CXM series CX750M 750W ATX12V  - GIGABYTE GA-G1.Sniper A88X FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

- CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory  x2

I thought Kaveri was an APU.  From my understanding APUs are slower than regular CPUs

No, they are a regular cpu with a decent integrated gpu. The top of the line can play BF4.

No, APUs are CPUs, it's just a term AMD uses to put focus on its more powerful graphics than the competition's (intel) every Intel CPU is an APU as well because they have integrated graphics, it is just a marketing term from AMD. Your Athlon X2 is nothing but an A6 dual core APU with its graphics disabled.

Perfect, so if I buy an APU I can just disable the integrated gpu and use my own right?

It's automatic. You don't have to do anything. Your monitor will use whatever it is connected to.
