Power Limit during OC

Go to solution Solved by Mick Naughty,

83 or below is safe. I run my power max all the time. But i no longer use fans so I can put all the power towards the card.

Yes the only thing that will really degrade the life span of your card would be increasing the voltage. Like already said the faster your GPUs fans spin the more quickly they will wear out, but they still should last ages even at full speed. You probably could get them replaced if they fail too. What percentage you setting the power limit to?

Heat would be the real factor. Unless it’s a poorly made card. I have cards that have been over clocked and over volted for 5 years or so. Not sure what you consider a lifespan but that’s the longest I wouldn’t consider it. My cards never touch above 70c though.

I just barely touched it, I increased it to 105% and I'm letting afterburner control the fans (which are hitting 65% ish max) but these settings gave me enough for a small overclock. Any max temp you would recommend? Is 75 C safe?

Don’t see a card listed but I’ll assume Ana say 80/83c is “safe”.

My card is an EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti SC GAMING

So a reference card with a fancy cooler. Should be running 60c or lower with the stock profile. Sounds like a case airflow problem. And all reference cards should hit the power limit.

Max was 62c with 100% power, I increased it to 105% and it's reaching around 65c-68c, although I've noticed that fans don't go above 60%, I was just wondering which would be the max temp advised to prevent any long term damage, since I'm planning on using this gpu for quite some time, once I know the max, which from what I can tell 75c is a pretty safe bet, I'll balance power and the fan curve to get a not too noisy system and the max overclock possible. At least that was my idea :P
