Asus X99-S NVME Support

Hi guys,

 

I am a little bit confused about whether my motherboard actually supports NVME M.2 drives, or whether it is the SATA M.2 drives

 

The manual states that the motherboard supports: 

 

 

This is my first foray into M.2 drives, so a little confused.

It says M.2 PCIe mode only... The PCIe interface is what makes the NVMe M.2 drives to be readable, whenever you see it says M.2 SATA and the word "PCIe" is no where then it won't support PCIe NVMe drives, some other MOBOs say PCIe and also SATA so they can read both types. In your specific case your M.2 seem to be capable of reading PCI NVMe M.2 drives only.
